Hi, I have AVG(the one which you pay for) my question is,will this be fine for my pc security.

Recently I was at the locl supermarket, they have a computer section and the pc tech guy suggested downloading LAVASOFT ADAWARE,it has malware, spyware+rootkit but since downloading it,it has slowed my pc down to a crawl.

Dosent AVG have all theese functions on already because my guess is they are working against each other,I never run the two together btw unless they run in the background?

I also have a programme called CCleaner and with this I can uncheck boxes so my pc starts up faster,I have had this quite a while and this has presented no problems.
Would appreciate your help.

It has been a long time since I have used Adaware but if it is doing real-time monitoring it may be causing problems because AVG is also doing this.

This is why you shouldn't listen to the PC tech guy at your local supermarket. He's either a Lavasoft shill or simply doesn't keep up with the latest software.

If you are paying for AVG, just stick with that. CCleaner is an awesome program, but it functions to keep the clutter cleaned out of your computer so there's less junk that gets scanned by AVG (thus taking less time and compute cycles).

Lavasoft is ok, so is Spybot S&D, but unless you look at a lot of porn there's no need for those in addition to AVG.

Cool,I appreciate you guy's helping out.
So basically what your saying is if I have AVG which I pay for then this should cover my security for my pc and I should delete Lavasoft Adaware?

I must admit although I'm not that clued up with pc's the tech guy at the supermarket diden't seem that clued up either.

For the average user, AVG will be enough protection. I would delete Adaware. If you want another layer of security, download Spybot S&D and run that once in a while. I wouldn't recommend the Tea Timer, because that will slow down your computer a lot. Just run Spybot manually.

Lavasoft's Ad-aware has become very bloated and inefficient. It's pretty junky now. As evidenced by the guy hawking their crap in a supermarket.

srsly? a supermarket? lol.

Tip: don't go to grocery stores looking for computer advice. If there is computer advice at the grocery store you happen to be in, ignore it.
