Annoying Sound when using Vista

Even if I have all programs closed & have exited all programs (uodates etc.) in the tool bar, my PC will emit an annnoying "Ba-Bu" type sound on an irregular basis (say every 2 or 3 minutes). Does anone know why it does this & how I can turn it off.

Have you searched in control panel at all, in sounds and audio devices? It should display all of the sounds that windows makes, if you are not sure what is causing the sound I would go through the list displayed there playing all the sounds until I found the same sound and disable it.

like the "ba-bu" noise that's made from USB devices being attatched and detatched?

it's certainly not good if they are going off for no reason.

mine does that sometimes as well and I also have no idea why, however it doesn't do it more than once
