This thread is a great help ..

Ive been watching the videos and basically copying what you have done .

I currently have 54 processes running !

I updated my windows .. and have only just downloaded the service pack 3 on XP .

Im currently looking at that blackviper site and i will change the service options to agree with those " SAFE " options ..

Im just wondering what service pack 3 i have .. is it the x86 ( 32-bit) version .. not sure how to check TBH .. once i know for sure, i will amend my service configuration.

Many thanks

Jos

Excellent point about HDD usage, especially on a small partition, or a large (250GB+) drive.

Yeah, system restore can because infected, but if it is that is because your system is already infected right?

I agree with dailing it back 100% great advice.

If you're running Service Pack 3 then you're using 32-bit. SP3 does not exist for XP 64-bit.

Thanks again funkyworms ..

Ive gone though the blackviper site and disabled as stated .

I will shortly be removing Adobe ..

Right now i have 41 processes running and im using 458MB ..

Better .. considering i was using at least 54 .. think i disabled a couple before that ! ..so it was closer to 60

I got a link to this thread because i was having problems playing a load of normal view tables on ipoker ... too much lag ..

I have 2.5GB of RAM and under normal situations .. thats surely enough RAM to run a load of ipoker tables .. am i right in saying this ?

Im going to check out my start up options and see if i can knock some of those off too ..

This thread is a great help

A touch more information ..

Ive just opened 16 tables ..and my CPU usage is 100% and processes is 33.

The casino.exe processes shows 225550K and very slowly rising .

The PF usage shows 639MB ..

Ive not tried to play on any of the tables .. but it the fact the CPU usage at 100% is the reason as to why i lag so much ?

Just wondering why the CPU usage is maxed out when i have 2.5GB of RAM ?

CPU usage and RAM are unrelated. A program doesn't have to use a ton of RAM to peg out the CPU at 100%. Conversely, a program can use a lot of RAM and not use much CPU time.

I believe this is a deficiency in the iPoker software. Some poker software is much more CPU intensive than others. Pokerstars is probably the least CPU intensive. Really bad clients like Carbon Poker can peg a relatively modern CPU with just 2 or 3 tables open.

What kind of CPU do you have?

There's simply no amount of tweaking you could do to run 16 tables of iPoker on that machine. I just downloaded their client and it is incredibly CPU intensive.

hey funkyworms, do you have SUPERAntiSpyware on your system? If so, you might want to scan to see if it's still detecting Ipoker files.

I started a thread about it on their support site but never got an update regarding any resolution.

I installed the Titan Poker client and it's detected as Adware.Casino Games (Golden Palace Casino) in SAS.

If 10 is standard for new computers then yours is ~2.5

Funky,

Terrific series! I finally got around to viewing the videos today and don't understand why your post hasn't been stickied here. (Hint to mods!)

Couple of questions:

I went to blackviper's site but still have 43 processes running on XP after making the changes recommended there. Is there a fool-proof way to determine if processes not listed there can be disabled without undue ramifications?

On another computer I am currently running Vista but have a pre-ordered Windows 7 upgrade coming in a couple of weeks. I assume I don't need to make any modifications there until after the upgrade. Correct?

Thanks for taking the time!

No there's no foolproof way to do it. Start a new thread and post some logs and I can help you out.

So I thought I would give Avira a try after having some false positive issues with my current anti-virus but it seems to want want me to complete some "offer" before I download it. This is not the kind of step I would expect to have to go through to download a piece of software that I would be entrusting my internet security to.

Is it really this good and if so, why do they need to go use such shady measures to get you to download it?

Think I might have it this time

Awesome funky! Thanks so much for this!

One question, you seem pretty strongly against quicktime. If I use Itunes, can I just uninstall quicktime? If not, is there some other windows media player that will manage ipods you would suggest? OSalt seems to mainly list linux based players.
