I ran and installed a lot of these tips on my PC when I first came across this post a couple of years back.

Just got a new laptop and was wondering if any of the advice/software is now considered out of date.

This thread still delivers! I just went through the videos and have revived an XP Home machine that was not running well. Plus, a lot of the tips and information apply to Win 7 and probably Win 8.

It is the cleanest most user friendly non destructive "does what it should do" utilities software out there. It is one of the first items I install on all pcs. Learned about it from it guys back when I was in state of the art mortgage office with over 1000 pcs. Guy cried glary on Keychain . Cc cleaner isn't bad but it's invasive at times. Revo Uninstaller is also a must have
