The Universe's increasing rate of expansion

Wouldnt the universe's increasing rate of expansion rather than deceleration be the result of the universe increasing size. Therefore as galaxies move further apart and expand space they have less of a gravitional pull on each other, speeding up movement.
Im sure theres a simple error to my theory?
