They identified three selection pressures that apply to evolving systems: stability, novelty and the ability to continue fundamental processes.

I think I'll wait and see if there are different configurations of this article which survive selection pressures of stability, novelty, and robustness so as to provide more functional information. I sense the novelty wearing off as I type. However, the functional information looks to have nowhere to go but up.

My mind also went to.... asking why you think anyone cares whether you want to go to mars, when that was never on the table.

In general my mind is greatly focussed these days on learning how and why we've got to the disaster that is earth 2023. i don't know why that should be strange to you, because loads of people are trying to account for it right now. we're not beyond atomisation, we're experiencing peak atomisation.

So far in my life, it has always been the worst that it has ever been. Apparently, those who have gone before me felt about the same.

Either it is that we forget about how bad things were, or things have been going downhill since time began.

I haven't kept up with events, but am pretty sure by now that all the forests are dead from acid rain and that we don't have an ozone layer anymore. All the teens must be satanists by now, and I must assume that we are currently in our third or fourth major race war in the US.
