I seem to have independently discovered both Hindsight Bias and the Curse of Knowledge a few pages back.

After carefully thinking about critical thinking after critically thinking about critical thinking, I think careful thinking maybe the next step beyond critical thinking.

Pretty wild. A video showing Florida getting nuked so soon after the school event is possibly the most explicit fear mongering done in the history of trying to make people afraid by narrative. Add it to the evidence available whatever that was.

On January 18, 1778, the English explorer Captain James Cook becomes the first European to discover the Hawaiian Islands when he sailed past the island of Oahu. Two days later, he landed at Waimea, on the island of Kauai.

I have been visiting Kauai for a week and saw the statue of Captain Cook in Waimea - A replica of one in England according to the plaque affixed to the base.

Of peculiar note is how the Hawaiian’s* met Old Mr. Cook when he made his first landfall on the Sandwich Islands at Waimea. Half-naked hula girls were dancing and strumming on ukuleles, accompanied by warriors playing surf music riffs on their Stratocaster guitars. Solid proof, yet again, that those so called primitive cultures were far more advanced than what propagandist historians have portrayed.

Now you know: The Rest of the Story.

*Also called Polynesians, or as I refer to them: The Irish of the South Pacific.

Some Jehovah's Witnesses were kind enough to post a leaflet through my door inviting me to commemorate the death of Jesus. No mention of Lent or Easter, nor even of Resurrection; just death, death, death. Why does America suck so hard at religion?

Usually stuff. God-egotism, conversionism, partisan/tribal power/supremacy, repetition. There is actually a "spiritual war" occurring right now- according to some religious leaders here....

The JWs I've encountered and known are fairly unobtrusive. One sect used to bring cookies to the Witch shop my friend owned and she let them leave their news letter on the counter.

Beats the heck outa some I've encounter Baptists who act baffled and zealous when denied.

American brown ale with the hipsters of London Fields. Hipsters seem to intuit good beer and good music on some level. FU Zeno.

Thanks lastcard. By the way, a little known fact for your hipster Londoner's; Jim Morrison was a closet Jehovah Witness.

London was very hip/cool in the late sixties to possibly ~1972. Then it collapsed in on itself and did not recover until rich businessmen pump in oodles of pounds to attract the new cool millennials. Still, most of the town is just a sewer with an oasis of scattered locations that you can walk about in without getting stabbed, robbed, or otherwise brutalized by the locals. Sort of like LA without the freeways.

Hopefully London's cool britannia has gone again and this time for good.

Really cheering to see a lot of the 'cool' restaurant chains struggling. There may even be some proper thai restaurants coming back

No argument about 1972, of course.

We walked past the Pembury estate without a care, concerned only with finding somewhere to eat. We're from an estate. Could the same really be said of American cities?

It never happens.

The world around you just becomes increasingly ridiculous to explain your survival. You get cancer, next day, they've invented the cure. You think you're about to get hit by a car, actually turns out to be a near-miss. You get very old and fragile, they invent anti-aging drugs. You get to 200 years of age, you can upload and transfer your consciousness across clones. And onto infinity.

I'm waiting for them to turn this into a silly movie. Solid premise imo.

I can't decide whether to play as trees or a river in the "life is like a jungle" game? Im transitioning from a volcano. That you tube channel that treats zoology like a role playing game sure is funny. The cats went up a level in boxes and laying around recently.
