For details about the parasite problem, visit this thread: http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/sh...d.php?t=264532

Rules:

Without any communication with each other, each person writes "contributor" or "parasite" in a PM to the Bank (this account).

The Bank goes through the PMs and records each player's choice. For every contributor he takes $100 from the moderator's treasury and puts it into the Game Bank. For every parasite he removes $200 from the Game Bank, possibly making it go negative.

3. He gives each contributor 1 share and each parasite 2 shares.

4. Finally, he distributes the Game Bank to the players according to how many shares they have. If the Bank is positive the parasites get twice as much as the contributors. If the Bank is negative the parasites owe twice as much as the contributors and they all must pay up.

I will decide on the amount of people and how many days this will last depending on the amount of interest.

The goal is to have more money than any other player by the end of the game (duration to be determined later).

This game differs from the problem in that your goal is to have more money relative to your opponents, instead of having the highest absolute amount of money as seen in the problem.

When I have enough people signed up, every day you must PM me whether if you are a contributor or parasite, and on the following day, I will publish each player's amount of money, and which option they chose the previous day.

When you sign up, please copy the list from the previous post that had someone sign up.

I think this would be more interesting if we put actual money on it. David or someone else wealthy agrees to act as the bank. All players would put $10-$50 into a kitty, David matches it. This forms the bank. The game proceeds as normal. If the bank is zero, everyone gets their money back. If the bank is negative, David gets to keep the negative amount. If it's positive, David loses that fraction of his matched amount (it's paid out to other players).

It's probably hard to test these theories without actual cash on the line.

The "goal" is to have more money than the other players?

Meh, I think that misses the point.

Sounds like a "Let's get David's money" game that might induce some superrational thinking by the players.

No, I don't think that's true. I think David should give it a try.

The only way it would work the way the question is posed is if we play with real money. Someone get David Sklansky to fund this game.
