Any good liquor store worth it's salt should have some of those beers - I can find some in many supermarkets.

I like the Widmer Rotator and second it's recommendation. The River Ale by Deschutes Brewery is also very good. Anything made by Full Sale Ale Brewery is also good and should be available in some supermarkets if they have any amount of beer selection at all.
I don't drink. Alcohol is an instrument of the (a) Devil. My sons don't agree.

I'm just not a fan of the style in general, so I can't be trusted as a guide to such things. I really really hate pilsners that are too pilsnery.

I tend to like IPAs a bit too much to be worthy of judgeship.

My tolerance level for Trappist brews is about right. Corsendonk puts out some decent stuff that is fairly widely available in the US.

You live in a mecca for microbrews. Do you also hate hiking and fishing and tourists and flannel shirts?!?

Zeno, are you sure you don't have a problem when it comes to alcohol? Close to every thread is starting to have a substantial part of alcohol posts. Why?

I'm also a bit concerned about all the souls that may believe in it. We could even get some alcoholist, where one of the main parts of the development was reading SMP, where science and the glorification of alcohol were entangled. How could a nerve poison like alcohol get that status, blurring clear thought that's essential for science?

Did I say hate? Didn't mean hate. No I don't hate. I just don't drink. When I did drink I never really liked the feeling of being out of control. You must really have a problem if you associate drinking beer with hiking and fishing. Fishing maybe. But I can't remember ever seeing a hiker pull out a pop top and slug it down.

I have no problems; I'm a perfect being.

Alcohol in the proper quantity and quality is one of the great things in life. I Know I have stated that before with emphasis on proper. Improper use leads to suffocation. But that can be said of many things, for example: Philosophy.

"Souls" is an improper term; aside from the blunt fact that they don't exist.

Science is clear, except when it isn't. Thoughts are clear, except when they ain't.
Don't make it all too complicated. Life ain't that serious.

Entanglement is good. -Albert Einstein.

I was teasing you about not liking one of the things East of the Cascades is famous for.

Stop pretending to be dense.

I have a similar reaction to Vince Vaughn movies. I do understand that they have a certain amount of popularity, but fairly easy palliative strategies exist in such situations.

I'm sure that you've figured out that the strategy of "not drinking beer" completely ameliorates the problem.

Properly administered quantities turn off some of the creativity inhibiting parts of the brain. For those that are prone to overthinking everything, it is a godsend.

On the other hand, improperly administered quantities just turn off all sense and have side effects that can include being a jerk and early death. Improperly administered quantities are not generally advised.

The problems with alcohol are well-documented and are mostly due to it being self-administered by a person with diminished inhibition. This can mostly be ameliorated by having a strong woman behind the man.

You must think I'm an idiot or must be one yourself if you thought I was serious about you being serious. In any case you may be wrong about me pretending.

Emerson isn't even particularly popular. Important to read, but that doesn't make him a god either.

You should have "purposely chose" a quote with relevance to the topic at hand. When the discussion is on good sex do you bring up a shooting in a mall because both involve a bit of screaming?!?**

Even worse is that upon being called out and corrected you keep going on. "No," you say, "screaming is sex."

*Applies only in NJ. May cause cancer.

**I'm rather proud of that bit. I had to climb down to your level of thinking yet not a whit below (forgetting to breath was a specific risk). Took me a fair amount of effort to flip the breakers on exactly the right portions of the old noggin. Could have left me permanently damaged had I made a mistake in sequence in getting it fully back online.***

***This was going to be a clever footnote, but I'm still reeling from the effort of making such a something or other. Hmmm. Worrisome when I can't instantly locate the right word or phrasing. Hope you are happy.
Are you freakin serious. What world do you live in? Springsteen is treated as a god by many of his "Audience". If you ever listen to an interview of his followers you may hear them cry at the mention of his name. And as for Emerson, there are many who love his words so much that they seriously refer to him as Saint Waldo. Not quite a god but close. My purpose though certainly unrecognizable to such a fertile superior mind as your was right on. Perhaps you should think before you criticize.

"Never get involved in a land war in Asia" was where I was going with it. You?

Hard to tell from here. Poe's Law and all that.

The self-deprecating remark is decent, but not confirming either way.

It is too bad that you didn't know that I live in SoCal and don't particularly like fake breasts. Your response to that would have made things a bit more clear.

Fanaticism is completely different than being a god or being thought of as a god. Some people act similarly to Springsteen or Emerson as others do to my chicken soup or hollandaise sauce. All are just things that certain people really really like.

And no, I am rarely serious. There are 10 things I am serious about and 3 of them involve the preparation of hollandaise sauce.

As to your purpose, I have some theories. I'm engaging you to test each one out. All for fun, of course.
