They are a solid team no question but at this point all they did was hold serve at home.

Bottom line is the Mets need to start hitting. Cespedes, Wright, Conforto have all been terrible. Duda was awful all postseason until the last couple games. You can't expect a guy like Murphy to keep carrying the offense.
Series is over. Just not the way Royals fans think. Mets in 6.

You hang out in Manhattan before the game, then take the express train 20 minutes to the stadium that drops you off like 100 feet away ldo

I think the royals match up better in the nl park since yost will be less likely to leave a starter in the 3rd time threw the lineup

Yeah Ventura's gonna have to have a no-hitter going to see a 3rd time through the lineup.

I just saw a breakdown on Matz. Not feeling so good about game 4 now. That's the kind of guy that just gives the Royals fits - sweeping lefties and junk throwing lefties. I wonder if Ned will have the balls to sit Hos in place of Morales? Probably not.

morales doesnt have that much better splits v lefties than hosmer. like 100wRC+ career for morales and 89 for Hosmer (110 for kmo this year v 100 for hosmer this year) plus hosmer's career numbers are dragged down from first 2 years when he was horrendous v lefties. i'm content just leaving in hosmer for his defense...cue jokes about game 1

people keep saying **** like this as though it's the nba where these teams all win 75-88% (and in some rare cases as often as 95%) of their home games. "holding serve" at home is huge in baseball.

Whitey Herzog is still mega-bitter about 1985: http://www.foxsports.com/mlb/just-a-...e-brett-102915

Also lol St. Louis:

Quote:
Jim Sundberg: When our chartered flight landed in St. Louis, they had already draped from the airport tower a "1985 World Champions" banner. We all saw that and got a kick out of it.

Andy Van Slyke: I can actually remember vividly how the city and the papers and the organization made the mistake of anticipating a World Series championship before it happened. As soon as we heard that, a lot of players reacted very, very negatively, because the last thing you want to do is wake up a sleeping bear. At that point, we really felt like the Royals were not playing to their capacity.

Rick Horton: I know that the whole thing was being swept up in the city of St. Louis that went beyond just the game. This was really just a community thing. Everybody wearing red, everybody talking about it. It doesn't surprise me to know there were some people who went ahead and had those signs made. Any player in his right mind would have been angry about that. Even if it was pro-them.
Quote:
Andy Van Slyke: The thing that really upset us, we had a meeting after batting practice of Game 5 in Busch Stadium, and they're telling us how after the game we're going to do this and we're going to do that, and the parade is going to be so-and-so. They told us to be ready for that. I thought it was asinine. I thought it was a bad thing to do. A lot of players didn't like it.

On top of that, the complete game 2 by Cueto means more available bullpen stud innings in games 3 and 4 to add to an already big bullpen advantage.

I also don't think Chris Young being on 3 days rest after pitching 3 innings in game 1 is big deal for what's probably his last appearance of the season. They're probably only looking to get 5 innings out of him there anyway. He's been really good throughout this postseason too.

All of the speculation about how the Royal's lineup might be a match up problem for the Met's starters has turned out to be valid, and there's no reason to think that won't hold true for their other starters who are pretty similar. This match up is also exposing the bad Met's defense a lot more than if they had gotten any AL team other than the Royals in the World Series. There will probably be some more big defensive mistakes for the Mets in the coming games, because they're just not good enough in the field to play clean games vs. a team that puts the ball in play as much as the Royals do.

There's always still a chance since the Mets are a good team and randomness is large over such a small sample of games, but other than if there had been some sort of injuries to key players, this is looking about as bad for the Mets as it could at this point in the series.
I mean familia got beat but the mets had that game won

KC dominated game 2

But like I said it's far from over

Matz vs. Young after the Mets have already seen him is a very favorable matchup for the Mets. I'm definitely gonna be sweating tomorrow night. Could be 2-2 real quick.

He got asked yesterday and said that he won't be starting Morales.

Fwiw NBA home court advantage has been plummeting for years, down to 54% last year on average. It's less of an advantage than everyone thinks.

With that said you're correct with the general idea that holding serve at home is generally not as easy as it seems (esp when facing Harvey and deGrom)

It's just unfortunate the royals ran into a freak situation where they had to play the Mets, so they're drawing dead regardless of game 1-2 results.
