His club career as a coach is tough to really evaluate imo

in his days with Lyon they were so much discrepancy(?) in the quality of teams in Ligue1 that 90% of ligue1 coaches could have crushed the opposition with this team ,some crazy ballplayers they had...

lol looking through some of the current squads for the African teams, Ghana, erm, I dunno. Hard to say since most of the defenders are really young. Outside of Paintsil and Addo, not many caps amongst the rest. Got to like the midfield, Appiah, Essien, and Muntari. Never heard of any of their strikers.

Nigeria have a decent looking team. If Martins and Yakubu are healthy they will be a handful for teams. MF anchored by Mikel, with a backline consisting of some solid players.

Quincy been a reported Spurs target for years...thought he was on trial there before signing with Cardiff. Former Arsenal academy.

Didn't look that far down the list of "recent call ups". Only reason I've heard of him is because he was in WXI 06 or whatever it was.

Dear god, how is there 50+ posts discussing 'historical football powerhouses', what relevance does that have to anything these days anyway?

Also lol@everyone who thinks Germany arn't a good pick for the world cup, they may lack the squads of Brazil and Spain but seem to be a smart, well driven team (im English btw)

If you wanted to bet on a longer shot then Germany look about 12:1, which compared to England at 13/2 is laughable.

True, but since the 80s they have been one of 3 most successful sides (along with Brazil and Italy).

If you look at performances over the history of the competition, France are clearly number 5. I'm fine with drawing the line after the top four though. At least one of Brazil, Germany, Italy and Argentina has been in every final.

Regarding the African sides, Cote d'Ivoire are the best team and I don't think it's close. I think Ghana are clearly second. Nigeria are interesting in that they have a good amount of individual talent, but they have really struggled and gotten poor results.

Hard:

edit: nvm about hard, you don't have to specify the years and places for each country.

I did the second one yesterday and missed 3 countries IIRC, but that amounted to like 12 answers.

70/72 on the second, missed one country. That said at least 3 I got were guesses from me just naming random countries.
