eta: and that's not to say any of these teams were really bad but they were definitely average at very best and way closer to bad than good ftmp.
even if we want to lol east a lot of those teams were actually good though. also average is very different than bad

srs by year
CLE:
2004, 23rd
2005 15th
2006 8th
2007 7th
2008 16th
2009 1st
2010 2nd

MIA:
2011 1st
2012 4th
2013 2nd
2014 7th

CLE:
2015 6th

that's half of the years top 10 in srs the first go round in cleveland. again adjust for east if you want but you can't really call more than one of these teams bad or close to it

Yeah I mean those SRSes if you have the second best player itl as compared to Lebron look way different is what I was kinda getting at. Miami still woulda been pretty decent without him.

The 04-09 Cavs teams never win more than 25 games in a year without him on the roster, they were between awful and unbelievably god-awful

maybe i just misunderstood by what "bad team" implies then. he has obv had some bad teammates, but that is not the same as saying he played on bad teams

Yeah seems clear to me the misunderstanding is bad team vs bad teammates.

Here's 2009-10 Cavs, who won 61 games (6th in offense, 7th in defense), top 5 in WS

1. LBJ 18.5
2. Andy V 8.1
3. Mo Williams 6.7
4. Anthony Parker 4.9
5. JJ Hickson 4.3

LBJ left, they retained all other players on the list. They won 19 games and were 29th in offense and 29th in defense

Those early teams were a complete joke. I see your semantics point but it's obvious those teams were objectively really bad without him.

Well bad despite the best player in the league basically is impossible in the NBA. When you start moving down to the 3-5th guys it can happen like KG's last couple years in MN.

In the NFL best QB is going to have his team go 10-6+ nearly always. Baseball is one where you could put Bonds 01-04 onto a roster and still spit out a ****ty 70-92 team.

you guys are arguing the same side. LeBron's teams WITH HIM were never really bad after his rookie year because he was so good they couldn't be bad. LeBron's teams in Cleveland the first time around all would have been horrible WITHOUT HIM though.

In his biggest game of the year LeBron played like crap on both ends and had like 8 turnovers. In his biggest game of the year Kobe scored 60 points and lead a massive clutch 4th q comeback. Says all you need to know.

This is incorrect. Lebron's biggest game of the year is game 3 on Wednesday night, when he'll have 15+ turnovers.

yeah as each game becomes the most important of the year his poor performance will compound..luckily for him there's only 2 games left...if someone kyrie goes beserk and forces a game 7 bron would mathematically project to have 294 turnovers...its the fibonacci code

LeBron going out in the NBA Finals against one of the greatest teams of all time while Kobe chucks his way to 60 in a meaningless regular season game against a team with nothing to play for does indeed tell you all you need to know about them.

I've seen this done before, but it gets overblown. Lebron left and was obv the main reason they dropped off so much, but Mo/Varejao only played in a combined 77 games for the Cavs in 10-11, after playing in 145 combined games in 09-10. They also last Shaq, who was old, but still managed a PER of 18 in 53 games in 09-10.

I like the idea behind this post but it would work better if Kobe didn't have 5 rings.
