yeah if i'm Tampa i'm kinda worried about the speed of Ovechkin, Semin, etc coming at Brewer, Ohlund, etc. unless they think that this 1-3-1 will really help neutralize that.

For what its worth Kunitz should have gotten a throwing the stick penalty on the same play the slash was called. Im pretty sure he tossed it in the air before it was whistled dead...Its a good thing it didnt matter

wtf? the Canucks get 1 day off between games, the Bruins get 2, and the Flyers & Preds get 3? makes sense!

(pending building availability, as always, but still)

Well the 2 series that NBC will be chomping at the bit to get will be Sharks/Wings and Bruins/Flyers. Given that Boston just finished the 2nd of a back-to-back they probably wanted avoid having them play FRI/SUN. Having the series start on Saturday allows them to get in a nationally televised game. I assume Sharks/Wings will go Friday/Sunday, and the Sunday game will be on NBC.

yeah i get all that, i'm just doing what i can to play the part of a stereotypical douchebag conspired against Canuck fan to the fullest.

last Canadian team too. only 2/6 made the playoffs, Canucks 1/8 remaining. gotta carry the torch for the country, will people rally around them like they did with Edmonton, Calgary, and Ottawa (to varying degrees) in recent years? probably not, but CBC will enjoy the ratings, even if they hate the team.

I wish it were that simple. They will undoubtedly help to make it respectable again, but under Bylsma the powerplay has consistently underachieved with the personnel they have. Last year we had Gonchar, Crosby, and Malkin and just barely finished 20th. When you have that kind of talent your powerplay should be among the best in the league, not well below league average.

Even this year when the powerplay percent was near the top 10 they were inflating it's conversion rate by scoring multiple times when the game was out of reach. Time and time again when the powerplay was called upon where it could really have had a big impact on the game, it failed. And often times they would go entire games without being able to even enter the zone and set up.

I'm not sure who deserves the blame anymore. For a long time assistant coach Mike Yeo took the brunt of the criticism for it's lack of success, however last year he took a coaching job in the AHL and the powerplay has continued to sputter in his absence. I guess Bylsma is the next in line to blame, but nobody has any clue who supposedly works on the powerplay these days. Maybe during meetings they all give their input on how much they can make it ****ing suck.

What's frustrating is that I'll watch teams like San Jose, Tampa, and Vancouver work the powerplay and it's like magic. Nearly very single powerplay they're easily gaining entry to the zone and everybody seems to be in sync. It astonishes me how often they're able to generate dangerous scoring chances. Then I watch the Penguins play with all of their talent and nobody has a ****ing clue what they're doing. It didn't used to be like this either. Under Therrien our powerplay was always near the top of the league. I swear to god our second powerplay unit during that time consistently looked better than our first powerplay unit has under Bylsma. If the difference isn't coaching, I don't know what it could be.

This is a really long winded rant but I'm really ****ing tired of this team continually sucking on the powerplay and never fixing it, and the last 30 games where they've collectively scored on 7% of their powerplays only adds to my frustrations.

Cliff notes: ****ing powerplays, how do they work?

Yes, congrats to the Bruins who beat the habs in OT of game 7, even though played like shyt, were outplayed throughout the series and were expected to dominate the canadiens with a shytload of their top players injured in 5 or 6 games max.

Atleast they are a classy team that doesn't make scummy hits on defenceless players on a regular basis.

Good luck against Philly, they will need it.

Everyone knows the best time to fake an injury is when the puck is 50 feet away and the refs aren't looking at you.

well in that case Montreal must have the world's best medical staff, if a guy can lie on the ice motionless for 30 seconds, limp off, and return without so much as missing a shift.

lmao, why so mad? Habs got totally outplayed 5v5 all serie long. If it weren't for Boston loltastic PP and the lolrefs this serie would have been over way earlier.

Also, we need a gif of Subban's EPIC diving last night

meh, needed 7 games with 3 overtime wins when most of the team is made of 36 year olds dmen on the decline, 5-6 injuries and a lot of american league players.

I'm just glad we have subban, plekanec and price for the future. Should be a pretty decent team soon if markov and gorges come back in their former 100%

see ya next year -.-
