3 MLS guys, 1 starter (Donovan) in 2010 World Cup cycle. Now half our team is made up of MLS guys. It's no coincidence

How is that Klinsman's fault? He works with the players, what, 4-6 weeks in a calendar year?

We simply don't have the talent available to compete at a high level. A change of National manager isn't going to change that.

Yeah the fact they struggled in MLS is Jurgens fault. Don't think he's amazing but will probably see us be mediocre for awhile. Talent is not there.

I don't disagree. It's the level we've accepted for these guys to be playing at with their clubs full time that is unacceptable and that's mainly what I attribute it to. Not Jurgen's fault directly, but I'd make it clear that MLS is not an acceptable level for USMNT regulars.

They're not good enough to play anywhere else. You can keep banging on about it but it's not going to change the fact the talent simply isn't there.

We need to develop a bigger talent pool, that way guys who are in bad club situations in Europe can't take the easy way out and come back to MLS.

Geoff Cameron hadn't played with USMNT in like a year, and is immediately the best US player on the field in his first game back.

My mild boorish American trolling aside...

I am somewhat interested in what people think USA's future is. Public interest seems higher than ever, but is that going to slowly turn into a better product? It seems all our best players from just like 2 years ago are done.

I think USA can field a potential World Cup winner eventually just given our resources and size. But are we thinking 20 years? 40 years?

wait a second, i am sensing that you don't rate MLS...am I on to something here?

Overall a pretty stupid position. Yeah MLS isn't as good as the Premier League. ****ing fantastic observation. There are plenty of players that have been in the MLS and capable of offering plenty. We'd be better if all of our players played at Bayern/Barca/Real Madrid/Juve etc, but its not like we can complain if we don't have the talent. What great Euro league stars are we passing on right now?

That's my point. Guys like Zusi (just as one example) should be taking opportunities to play in europe when offered not staying in MLS and falling off a cliff playing against college kids and the Guatemala and Panama all stars.

It's about getting guys to Europe in the first place. Not inter and real. Eredivise is a perfectly acceptable level. It's not just the competition but the overall development. Why have so many promising MLS guys failed to get better and guys like Bradley got so much worse since moving there?

LFC is a known MLS hater. Like, he rates it as lower than the Greek 2nd division.

I do?

No one can make an actual point or answer the question why so many guys have got worse since moving to/staying in MLS.

Tonight was just another example of it. Guy doesn't play for a year and is immediately our best player. Our best goal scorer who is repeatedly overlooked in favor consistently top MLS goalscorer Chris Wondolowski and Alan Gordon actually gets thrown on (albeit way too late) and scores. I have full confidence he's developed well in his 5 years in Germany and will continue to do so if he stays in europe

That doesn't mean Bundesliga 2 is a better league than MLS necessarily but it could be better for player development
