I haven't listened to it yet, but am about to. Talking Fussball is usually pretty decent, though.

agree with Mars, Bradley is not a great 6 or 10, the 8 is probably his best role

some random jobber does the dirty work at the back, Pirlo plays as a DLP, Lampard is 10ish

This vague article from Grant Wahl proves that most of us have no idea what's going on right now at US Soccer.

If true, I wonder if Jay Berhalter has any football responsibilities as "chief commercial director". If not, what could these day-to-day duties be that he is assuming control over that were previously Klinsmann's domain?

Still here. Still need four points during the run in 3 weeks. If we don't get a point in Trinidad then it may be time for the axe.

There's nothing to be said for a team on a downturn with fans who know how to shut their mouths? Can't really say anything at all at this moment. Even if we go 6 for 6 this month. Everyone that was supposed to take the next step in these past two years hasn't. Nobody has improved dramatically. US players generally tended to have later development curves because they learned the game later in their development. With the influx of foreign born talent we're seeing guys who had that early development but just weren't all that great to begin with. Still some good players. FabJo is still nails. Aron was promising until he couldn't stop getting hurt. Yedlin is getting great minutes for Sunderland which is the English equivalent of a AAAA team but whatever. Everyone else is toiling in MLS, helping create the brand, but just rehashing the argument we've had nonstop basically since Bradley signed for Toronto. U23s are good enough to qualify for the Olympics but the odds are against it. U17s laid an egg but it's just lolU17s. Like any investment there will be peaks, dips, plateaus. It's all about that best fit curve though.

That said, we're maybe -600 to qualify for the WC finals this cycle where last I would have probably said it was closer to -1500. So there is concern at least from me. Having players play their actual positions on the MNT would be a start.

JK spoke about needed new, younger players. I am entirely unconvinced that he won't trot out the likes of DMB and Beckerman through Copa.

I think both Hedges and Miazga are due for some extended run. They would get crushed against a strong, tactical attacking side but those two beat the Panamas and the Trinidads that we need to beat right now.

Looks like this is happening.

U.S. Roster By Position:
GOALKEEPERS (3): Brad Guzan (Aston Villa), Bill Hamid (D.C. United), Tim Howard (Everton)

DEFENDERS (8): Ventura Alvarado (Club America), Matt Besler (Sporting Kansas City), Geoff Cameron (Stoke City), Fabian Johnson (Borussia Mönchengladbach), Matt Miazga (New York Red Bulls), Michael Orozco (Club Tijuana), Tim Ream (Fulham FC), Brek Shea (Orlando City SC)

MIDFIELDERS (7): Kyle Beckerman (Real Salt Lake), Michael Bradley (Toronto FC), Mix Diskerud (New York City FC), Miguel Ibarra (Club Leon), Jermaine Jones (New England Revolution), Darlington Nagbe (Portland Timbers), DeAndre Yedlin (Sunderland)

FORWARDS (5): Jozy Altidore (Toronto FC), Alan Gordon (LA Galaxy), Jordan Morris (Stanford), Bobby Wood (Union Berlin), Gyasi Zardes (LA Galaxy)

Does Brek Shear play defense or is this a possible experiment?

Why is Dempsey not on the list?
Will Howard go back to starting over Guzan?

Brek is a full-time LB now. So actually not one of JKs wild experiments.

Basically we got Nagbe as the addition here to try to hold off media and public, but the roster is pretty much standard edition JK. I'm gonna hold off assuming it will remain this way for good until post January camp friendlies and such, but my hopes aren't high.
