Yeah, that'll do it.

It's hard to imagine Donovan not getting a farewell w/ the USMNT even after that comment.

Boca didn't get a send off either. Just dropped and forgotten. Not in the same atmosphere as Landon, but was a 100+ cap player who was the captain for a very long time. He was the real Captain America.

I'm just not sure we do send off games, and I definitely don't think Jurgen is real interested in it. That said, LD still may get one. I could see it being on a non-FIFA date after the MLS season ends. Easily serves as joint send off with Boca. I'd like to see something like USA vs LA Galaxy(and friends) game during January camp. LD could play for both teams for a half.

Boca is also 99% likely to be the source of a lot of those quotes from the SI article that published before the Costa Rica snow game.

I think a better example would be Dolo.

Yedlin did what he should've done against Spurs in the friendly this week, bombing down the side and getting good crosses in. They didn't get finished, but in a better league with better teammates than Lamar Neagle the hope is they will be.

It'll be interesting to see what his schedule is, whether they can clear out a non-EU spot (or he can get a Latvian passport) and he heads over in January or if he stays here until next summer.

As for other young players, EPB got 45 minutes against Man City. He didn't blow me away but also never looked out of place, which is a pretty good accomplishment for a 17 year old kid trying to mark Jovetic.

Sounds like Spurs were impressed - the latest word is that within a day or two Yedlin's transfer to Tottenham will be completed. There are reports (which seem somewhat uncertain) that he may stay on with Seattle for a while after the transfer takes place.

Tell Raul to say hey to USYNT Boxi Yomba who signed with Atletico 4 months ago. Always nice when we can pave the road for Mexicans to follow in behind.

Pshh, that's such a fake name it's not even worth commenting on.

On another note, LOL CONCACAF (mostly Belize) as one of the CCL teams was just replaced because they didn't have a field that met requirements. Also note, for those of you new to the game, this happens fairly regularly with Central American teams as their facilities are just ****.

It's a total FU to Leon though, because instead of getting that joke squad they end up having Herediano from Costa Rica who can absolutely rise up and sneak a point away from most squads. They also have to face Isidro Metapan who, while not a threat to go far by any means, are regulars in the tournament and probably the best 3rd-place team of any group.

I'm concerned about Gil's ability to find space at higher levels. I realize I'm kind of a downer but he's not particularly big or fast. He actually reminds me of Freddy Adu physically. I have no idea how his mental facilities are though. He's very skilled obviously and seems to keep showing up in awesome highlight videos. I just wish he was like 2 inches taller.

Those are fair concerns. Gil's ability definitely stems more from his technical abilities and composure than his size and speed.

That said, he's not exactly tiny (same height as Feilhaber, Bedoya, Zusi) and still just 20 years old so he hasn't filled out yet.

The biggest thing he's had to improve is his defense. I think part of that also comes from being a 17 year old playing in MLS, but it has gotten better. I also think that him playing with Javi Morales at RSL has been the perfect partner since ideally he becomes a better version of Javi.

There aren't many people who have gotten 100 MLS games before their 21st birthday, let alone for one of the top 3 clubs in the league over that time frame. He'll be in the mix for friendlies in the near future and will likely captain the Olympic team through qualifying so we'll get to see plenty of him on the next level.
