Wasn't sure why the Welch team and fans seem so happy with a draw, then I remembered: This group is already decided:

Matchday #2:
ENG beats USA
Wales beats Iran

Records going into matchday 3:
Eng - 6
Wales - 4
USA -1
Iran - 0

So it won't matter when USA beats Iran to finish on 4 points, since there's about zero chance either of the UK teams play for anything other than a draw. GG all.

Things are going really well. Our midfield has been great. I know just the thing to make it even better KELLYN ACCOSTA!

I ****ing HATE Gregg Berhalter. He got it too right to start the game simply but not being a penis looking yeezey wearing genius but after controlling the game he just ****ing couldn't help himself.

Jordan Morris and Kellyn Accosta seeing the field while Gio Reyna and Luca de la Torres don't get off the bench is such a fireable offense. I ****ing hate this guy

i hear ya Fossil, but at the end of the day USA won't deserve to advance out of the group without getting a result vs ENG

You HAD to win this game. And Gregg managed it like he had an eye on England in the 2nd round. We could have lost 15-0 to England if we'd beaten Wales and still would have just had to beat Iran on the last day. Gregg is such a ****ing idiot.

Aren't England and Wales bitter rivals? Doesn't seem to me they would settle for a draw.

Gareth Southgate knows he can sub in 4 or 5 guys, play his B+ squad, and still have more talent on the pitch than Wales, so he'll rest some of his key players and/or guys on a yellow card

Wales know that if they press too hard, England will absolutely punish them. So if you think they packed it in the 1st half of this game tonight, wait until you see what they do in 8 days. Sure, they could finish top of the go top with a win, but there is NO WAY they do anything to risk that precious point which gets them through.

ETA: You'd have to ask someone from the UK, but I don't think there is much of a rivalry there, other than just your normal low-key bragging rights. I think they've only met like 3 times in the last 10+ years, with England easily winning all 3

If Wales pumps in a bunch of goals vs Iran and we lose to England they'd gladly take a 1-0 loss.

biggest tactical problem is that guys are going to be gassed after pressing all-out for 45', it's not exactly a surprise and GGG's gotta have subs and tactical tweaks ready to go in advance

Tactical tweaks is not exactly in Gregg's vocab.

xG went from like 0.9-0.1 USA in the 1st half to 1.8-0.15 Wales in the 2nd. Wouldn't be surprised if it's the same in every 2nd half. Unless England is already up enough that they aren't interested in the 2nd.

You can press intelligently and not be gassed after 45'. These are professional athletes. No one is saying don't sub. Just don't bring in Kellyn Acosta and ****ing Jordan Morris. It's really not the least bit difficult.

Buy a cameo. I'll do one for you. More importantly, do you actually disagree with anything?

this

we are what we are at the end of the day (and that isn't world beaters)

we are WAL's equals per ELO and, go figure, we tied them

edit to add: now go get a result vs ENG and begin to pick up some momentum in this tournament

Rants are fun. Actually stating what you disagree to facilitate discussion with is better than just omg rantz!

It was incredibly dumb from Zimmerman but I agree with you, Zimmerman is the choice there. No issue with that. My issue is with Wales starting to have a bit more of the game we decide to bring on an awful CDM in Kellyn Acosta and completely concede the midfield. We knew he would do this. This is why playing guys like him in qualifying and including him in the squad are a huge problem.

In a 3 game group stage how you get there is very important unfortunately
