I'm way way late and I don't think I've ever made a negative post on Alaba before but on the great goal I really didn't like him not focusing on Saul's left foot which had been notorious lately and I'm sure has been all over the scouting report. Defenders routinely never gets that wrong these days and Alaba just fumbled completely by totally committing to his opponent's weaker foot.

Sure if he focused on the left instead Saul could get a headstart past him (the headstart that was already underway by him fantastically beating other weak individual Bayern defensive actions) but it's less immediately dangerous and Alaba could still recover to defend a pass inside or tight-angled shot (that would also be from the weaker foot and also easier for Neuer).

Even if the goal was very strong by Saul and very weak from a number of Bayern players I just thought it was an underrated deal and worth singling out because subjectively it just seems like it's a very basic thing that defenders just do not get wrong (anymore) and Alaba's carelessness the gross culmination of some very bad defending.

has been mentioned as it was really really bad.
just can't show an opponent the inside there ever, not even someone with a cripple left foot.

None of Atletico's 53 results this season would KO them against Bayern, 51 go straight through, 2 go in OT (1-0 losses against Villarreal and Malaga). For some reason, I'm pretty pessimistic as the hours go by.

RM not playing this final would be a huge fail and EVERYONE has to go, starting with Zidane. Not starting James would already have me pissed.

If he wants to play James should stop spending so much time with p***s. It worked for Roberto Carlos and Romario, but they were legends and physically supernatural beasts. Like Kaka, Shneider, Robinho, and others before him, James is not.

Zidane may not have a clue, but he's gotten them to show flashes of pride, and that's really all a madrid manager ought to have to do. He can be faulted for keeping Benzema on the field too much, but it's easy to see why he did when you watch Jese and Lucas Vazquez running around like they played for Atletico.

No Yaya or Silva, Nasri ineligible. Sterling and Navas out wide with KdB as the 10?

Iheanacho should probably be starting.

Only thing I don't like about Iheanacho starting is KdB playing wide.
But then again, fielding Sterling and Navas on a CL semi-final, jesus...

If he can sustain not running and keep doing what he did against chelsea, ok great.
I don't think that's a good plan against real thou, even without Casemiro.

Yaya's performance at the Bearnabeu 2-3 years back was crazy. Destroyed RM, but his scrubby teammates let him down. Key point though, '2-3 years back'... :-/

Is delph injured? Don't see why they wouldn't run the 2x fern + delph strat with one of them wide they've ran in other big games (or yaya in one of the pivots). I like sterling in this game a lot, there will be space behind for him to attack and him kdb + aguero could be very dangerous in transition if city play conservatively.

Wonder if james will start or if isco is going to play.

has the "delph strategy" ever worked for them?
I just remember it vs mahrez/leicester and they got blown to pieces. mahrez obviously much better than anyone lölreal have but still

I was going to say away @ Kiev, I think Fernandinho played wide and actually did a good game there, but the midfield was Fernando + Yaya, not Delph.

Idk, how could the best manager in the world possibly lose against a club with about 0.1 the revenue?

this mf is a bit different than Alonso-Essien-Khedira tho

Oblak; Juanfran, Giménez, Godín, Filipe; Saúl, Gabi, Augusto, Koke; Griezmann y Fernando Torres.

Neuer - Lahm, Boateng, Martinez, Alaba; Alonso, Vidal, Muller; Costa, Ribery, Lewandowski.
