Yeah exactly this. If he races I want to see him win just for the hysteria that ensues.

what a crazy scenario.

Smoke can kinda be a dick at times but you really can't tell much from the video.

Wonder if he had a GoPro in the car or anything

There should be massive suspensions/fines for people who get out of their car on the track. The fact that that was allowed and customary basically contributed to the loss of a life. In the NFL you can't even take your helmet off on the field.

Come on espn ....youre asking some really tame questions. Ask whether tony had malicious intent, ask why it sounded like he reved his engine right before hitting kevin ward, and whether that was a mechanism to avoid ward or an attempt to simply scare him that went wrong.

Most of all I just find it really hard to believe a world class driver would react so poorly in that situation. Not only does he not see the kid, but his split second reaction is to throttle the engine and swerve in the area he was walking from (the wreckage)? It's an even harder sell given that the driver was upset at him and Tony has a history of anger problems. It's clearly not enough to convict him of first or second degree manslaughter, or at least I wouldn't think so, but in the court of public opinion this much circumstantial evidence ought to be pretty damning imo.

Has anyone made that joke yet?

Those are stupid and malicious questions to ask, nobody will even be able to answer them, and the answers wouldn't even prove anything.

Can't really do that, because if there is any chance the driver thinks his car is on fire he needs to get out.

I really don't want to watch the vid. I will say that goosing the engine could very well be an attempt to kick the car away from the kid at the last minute. I also don't doubt Stewart could have kept his car further away or slowed more.

You mean to tell me a former professional Nascar racer wouldn't have any good insight on why it went so horribly wrong? I'm sure he could shed some light on that.

Pretty crazy situation that could have been avoided if the guy did walk into the middle of the race track. Extremely unfortunate, but avoidable.

Wow at this. I don't watch racing sports so I only knew ugly Tony from the 5-hour energy TV commercials he used to do or whatever they were.

Hopefully this puts an end to all sports where people drive in circles and do nothing but waste oil and gas or kill eachother.

Seriously, do we really need racing sports? Why? Get rid of this stuff. This terrible "sport" makes the NFL look like chess.

Should be pretty clear when someone is getting out of their car bc its on fire or when they get out of their car because of redneck road rage and try chasing down a car like a low-intelligence dog.

The guy who got out all angry .. what was he hoping to do? I dont know anything about this dirt racing sport but was he really wanting the guy to stop and have a punchup in on the racetrack whilst trucks are racing by at stupid speeds?

I have no idea if its intentional or not but the guy who died was sadly punished for his stupidity
