The best players in sports are usually the ones overrated.

being -20 runs a year defensively hurts ur value a lot. and hes also run good with the bat. PrOPS says hes more of a 900 OPS hitter than what he's actually done. cabrera isn't even close to being a top ten player

"The cause of all this. He was overworked at to young an age.

197 IP at age 22, 236 IP at age 23, 224 IP at age 24.....this is sick. Even worse than the abuse Mulder, Hudson, and Zito endured. "

Buehrle came up similarly.

22: 221
23: 239
24: 230
25: 245
26: 236
27: 204
28: 201

His 2006 season was terrible (4.99 ERA), but his 5 previous seasons were average-to-great. Last year he rebounded (3.63 ERA) and his Hits, HR's, and walks were all down, while his strikeouts were up.

So, maybe Willis can have a re-bound year, IF the only reason for his suckiness last year was fatigue.

Most similar players by age.

21. Hank Aaron
22. Hank Aaron
23. Hank Aaron
24. Hank Aaron

I sure hope he is able to pick up the pace and doesn't end up like this guy! Overrated!

#2 and #3 most similar batters through age 24: Ken Griffey Jr., Frank Robinson.

What is funny is that at least rate-wise, Barry probably still projects as the best hitter in the majors again next year.

this is what i was saying yesterday. SERIOUSLY trade every single player we have for willis/cabrera and use minor league players to fill in the team and we are better than we are now.

Very true, and possibly even 2 years. People don't realize they had a good team last year, they were just lacking in starting pitching and defense. The defense just improved with this trade, and will get better. The starting pitching was an issue because of injuries and nothing else. They have a very solid offense, and one of the best bullpens in the NL. I see a WS title in the near future.

But their offense just got a whole lot less solid.

Well yeah, but I assume Maybin will be the leadoff hitter, Hanley has plenty of power so they can drop him to the 3rd spot, so it will still be fine.

I'm giddy

this is so awesome. the tigers are basically fielding a softball line up.

It's nice that all 9 starters are all stars, or future hall of famers.

The line up, if I were the coach:

Granderson CF
Polanco 2B
Maggs RF
Cabrera 3B
Sheff DH
Guillen 1B
Rentaria SS
Jones LF
Pudge C

Inge is the utility guy. He will probably start 50% of the games as a catcher, 3B, 2B, CF, or LF.

If the tigers stay healthly, this isn't even fair.

Fortunately the Indians lineup is not significantly worse, and the pitching is better. Should be an interesting AL Central.

I said the exact same thing 5 years in a row.

It certainly wasn't fair to opposing pitchers. Yanks were 1st, 1st, 2nd, 2nd, and 4th in runs scored over those years.
