Yeah it would help him probably but it would be like asking Mick Jagger to play at a casino in Atlantic City after recovering from losing his voice or something.
Tiger is still recovering. In 97 or 98 I went and saw Andre Agassi play in a challenger tournament (the equivalent of the web.com tour) after he had dropped well out of the top 100 following injury and personal turmoil. He wanted to work on his game while gaining confidence in tournament settings. Seems like a good idea for Tiger to swallow his pride and do the same.

LOL at anybody who thinks Tiger would or should play in a web.com event. That's not how it works in top level golf.

Wouldn't surprise me though if he played in a Euro Tour event, he's played in the event in Turkey at least once.

No one is suggesting he play in a web.com event. Since he didn't qualify for the Bridgestone, I just don't see why he should dismiss playing in whatever the Reno-Tahoe event is called now. It's still a real tour stop ffs.

I think Stableford would be perfect for him.. He could focus on making birdies rather than fearing bogies.

His making bogeys is a bigger leak right now than not making birdies is. So Stableford isn't going to help him much for the regular tour.

I know some people want to see him qualify for the FedEx Cup, to see "4 more" rounds of Tiger. Newsflash, if he squeeks into the first round of the playoffs he's likely not making it into the second round. It's not like he gets all 4 events and we see Tigoat 4 straight weeks. So him not making the FedEx Cup isn't a huge concern.

Yes, I agree, and that's why I think playing in this format could help him build confidence. I think the more holes he plays well, the better off he is.

I think he knows better than you do about whether or not he needs to play the Reno-Tahoe Vagisil Invitational with John Daly and other sideshow characters, where winning probably moves him up a measly dick number of spots in the FedEx Cup anyway.

I would probably play it if I could b/c it seems like a fun event and Tahoe seems like kind of a neat place though I've never been there. And the locals would probably love to see him there since they usually get the Mike Weirs and the Cletus Morelands and John Dalys passing through. But to say he ZOMG NEEDS THIS event to build confidence in his swing seems moronic. Also isn't this the event where everyone's approach shots are all screwy b/c nobody can figure out the elevation change of the course and the added distance the ball travels due to Tahoe's elevation? Seems like every time I've watched it players talk about their approach shot distance control being off. Not sure that's the best thing for Tiger's head right now.

At the core I think it's fanboiz butthurt that they can't see him on TV that week.

I think it's moronic to think that some events might not be favorable to playing in than others for someone struggling in the manner he is. I think a Stableford, Match Play, and Stroke Play event are all different atmospheres which put different levels of pressure on each shot. I think Tiger should give each one of those consideration for how he rebuilds.

I also think he should consider having a few beers before he tees off on each round to take the edge off. Yes, these are all my opinions, but I don't see a problem with him experimenting on things like this. For someone who has changed his swings a handful of times, he seems open to trying new things, why not these?

Let's be honest. He's Tiger Woods. It can't be easy to swallow your pride and go slumming with the bottom tier Tour guys. It's kind of a circus. Even if you could prove that zomg he needs to play Reno, it's still not necessarily a virtue of his to do so. He's a walking conglomerate and probably just doesn't want to deal with all the hoopla surrounding him at a lesser event (much less a god damn Web.com event which some suggest).

Plus, maybe he doesn't have any mistresses in Reno and wants to stay home and bang Amanda Dufner all week? I always find it odd when I see someone like Vijay Singh playing a crummy event (I saw this this year). But then it occurred to me that some of these guys likely pick events based on where their mistresses live. But they'll say something on camera like "I've always loved this layout and blah blah blah" lol.

And the real question I have for you is this: Do you think Tiger hasn't considered it? Like, he's obviously weighed his options and made a decision. You are talking like he isn't even aware it's an option to play Reno. Not sure what you could possibly say to Tiger to change his mind.

It's hilarious, and probably true..

"I heard it's tough to ship furniture into Reno " -- Which places do you think get more covered in spooge, when he makes the cut, or misses the cut?

No, it's their butthurt that they believe he is THIS close to being the best golfer in the world but he doesn't know how to get over the hump by making some small change or doing something simple.

I'm no fanboy, and I believe Tiger's judgment in countless areas is questionable at best. However, I doubt there are a handful of living people who can validly second-guess his approach to his golf game in real-time. OTOH, there are countless people who can second-guess some of his decisions in retrospect.

I don't think he has changed his ultimate goal of surpassing Jack's major record. I further believe that he is doing what he thinks gives him the best chance of doing that. Everything else is just "noise" to him.

I'm no expert but why is every golf analyst/coach saying the same thing about his swing? Surely they can't ALL be wrong?

I'd love during one of his long birdie putts for the announcer to just go "This for a birdie and share... of 79th place."

All of them seem to think the swing on the range is totally different from that on the tee box. As if he is overpowering the ball. It's obv not as simplistic as that but you get what I mean.
