Rory should wreck St. Andrews, though. As should Bubba - especially with those gigantic flat greens. Bubba is a great lag putter (though sucks in the makeable range). Gonna be awesome. Such a great year for majors. 4 elite venues.

Would be awesome to have Rory and Bubba in fighting it out only to have Bubba hit one into the road hole bunker and take 3 strokes to get out, then yell at his caddy "Sand on the clubface, bro. Sand on the clubface."

Yeah...I mean his driving accuracy is more of a barrier probably. Distance is okay but not elite. You can be short or you can be inaccurate and still be elite with his putting ability...but you probably can't be both.

I haven't followed him closely enough to make any sort of comment about distance gains he could make in the gym or whatever. I'd think we will probably find out what trajectory his career will take within 2 years.

And I want Speith to be great. He oozes give a **** and WIM. I wanna believe but man, seems like he needs a lot to go right to sustain.

I was surprised today to hear that Spieth's putting stats were elite. I kind of agree with Clark. I think Spieth's bugaboo is his inability to throttle it up to 320-340+ like the big boys Rory, Bubba, DJ. I think Spieth has a good average drive but I can't recall him really mashing any. He's already at #4 but getting to #1 is a huge hurdle from even that close. Luke Donald got to #1 hitting it like a girl but he was also the world's best putter 3 years' running. Adam Scott isn't a masher and he got to #1, so maybe Spieth can get there.

But last Masters Sunday it was just so evident the talent difference between Bubba and Jordan. Spieth gave it all he had and it really wasn't close to enough. Bubba was hitting like 330 yard drives into uphill fairways. Has to be a bit disheartening to be that good but have to deal with freak talents like Bubba, Rory, and DJ. I remember 1 or 2 years ago DJ on hole 13 took a line like 30 yards over the left trees and just murdered it. Bubba hit like a 340 yard slice off that tee that Spieth thought was in the trees.

It's kinda weird tbh that Speith doesn't have crazy length. You've got an athletic build on a 6'1 180+ lb young guy, you'd figure he'd be bombing it all over the place.

He's never looked 6'1" to me, but maybe he is. His swing looks super slow and rythmic - at least his irons do. I'm almost amazed at how far he does hit it. I might be going to the Shell Houston Open on Friday and will likely get to see him up close (again). Unfortunately Rory isn't here this year.
