Remember when you guys thought he was going to contend/win this week? Glorious.

Tiger's chipping/short game the past couple of years wasn't 'bad' to the point of hitting shots to 10 feet where he should have been inside of 5 feet. He was skulling shots across the green and being so desperate he was chipping with his 4 iron. That's not a little rust..

Imagine a tour pro like Steve Stricker takes a year off from golf. If he goes out and plays a round with no practice, he's still not going to be hitting shots that weekend 18 handicappers hit. He won't be lining short chips across the green and looking like an absolute noob. He probably wouldn't be knocking down pins, but he wouldn't have everyone around him whispering that he has the yips.

right now his game is at make-the-cut-at-majors, in his first real comeback in 3 years. the defending champ didn't make it.

the real test will be his next start and the one after. hoping his back holds up.

Keep moving those goalposts. Eventually the bar will be so low that he'll be BACK no matter how lol he is.

It’s less goalpost shifting and more acknowledging that while the results aren’t what we expected/hoped for, at the very least it’s progress...however slight. I think most fans would admit that the weekend was a disappointment but it’s not like all hope is lost.

lol haters, Tiger's still on track to win 3 majors this year.

He's sort of just acknowledging the facts that it's his first real major on this comeback trail that was hyped up expectations for him. If he keeps playing lol in the majors he won't really be BACK.

His back was my major (heh heh) concern about his ability to return. I didn't think it was possible to fix it, but it looks to me like his back is fixed. At least his previous issues seem to be fixed; he could develop new issues just like anyone else.

I think the major concern now is simply his age and the talent of the young guys. He can run hot enough to win another major or two, but his timing is going to have to be superb. And he is going to have to avoid developing new physical problems which become increasingly difficult with age.

This is it right here. Obviously he's not playing well enough to win a major yet but Rocco Mediate and Glen Day aren't walking through that door....

For sure. I'm hoping for 2-3 years of legit contender before run-hot is his only hope, but we'll see.

Not sure what you’re looking for exactly but If you want to bet tiger to win each tourny rest of the season id take your action. Same amount of money each tourny and must bet every one, (ie no cherry picking favorable courses). You can get his odds @each event as of thurs morning or w/e

I think he wants to bet even money that he wins another tourney. And a separate even money bet that he wins another major. which also doesn't make much sense given the time horizons
