Like... that's not hard to figure out is it? Was your question a serious question? Howard never said it was their 'moral responsibility' or they 'have to do this', those are your words creating some sort of strawman. It's not like people were just clamoring for ESPN to make a black interest site for decades until they caved under the pressure.

ESPN chose to attempt it of their own volition, and then Howard simply pointed out when they fell flat on their face. This is really pretty simple.
Of course they failed. They failed because, as Howard himself pointed out, they're ESPN/Disney, the company that does GWB puff pieces. They're not in the business of giving a platform to writers like TNC to write uncomfortable pieces about things like reparations. That's the long and short of it.

This notion that they would have succeeded but for hiring Whitlock to head the whole thing up is absurd. Yeah, Whitlock is ****ing terrible but see above, this sort of project would never succeed at ESPN. If they somehow managed to hire someone like TNC it wouldn't elevate the site, it'd just lower TNC.

The whole argument just serves to make people feel better about consuming ESPN, as if this is wrestling and we're "smarks" instead of people (and I'm one of them) who are happily forking over their money to an absolutely awful media empire.

It's not so much that you disagree but that you're saying dumb **** and being obtuse. Hope that helps.

Don't think vaya cares people think he is saying dumb stuff, he's just correctly laughing at nath's hysterical handwringing.

he said there should be a mercy rule when it's 4-0 in a set so people who don't care about tennis can watch matches more quickly.

It was about the worst thing I've ever heard.

he also said 'all games are too long, i'd be way more interested in tennis if it was 3 sets, i was way more into serena stuff at the US open because i knew the games would only last 3 sets max'.

heh yeah so for those who will never listen to it, the conversation was essentially:

'i still dont have intro music but it's coming and it will be sick! anyway i have chuck klosterman on the line'
'hey bill. can you give me a clue on the music?'
'no!!!'
'oh come on just a hint. is it gonna be a rock song?'
'i said no hints!!!!!'
'but there's MILLIONS of rock songs out there. surely you can tell me something?'
'ok, let's start here. CAN THE PATS GO 16-0?'

I am not gonna lie. I am eagerly awaiting the O/U NBA line pod, and will probably wager $$ based on their analysis.

They really do have a track record of doing well with these last few years.

I don't care for Jalen but he probably has the best inside info in the entire media and Billy has fully grasped the concept of omerta.
