I'd probably chill on the water consumption today. Tomorrow you can go right back to 3 gallons a day.

Yeah the actual day/party is sick. Still not worth the lol cost and stress over planning though. Congrats.

Planning isn't all that stressful and just have someone else pay for it. EZ game.

i dont think of my wedding as a waste of money. spent a ****load but it's the #2 greatest day of my life behind the birth of my child. just an awesome weekend with friends and family, and when I die the amount i spent is not even going to be a thought.

i know the hot new thing is to be 'lol big wedding lets elope' but throwing that party for everyone to drink, dance, eat, and love their asses off is something i think about often. wouldnt change a thing- and if we did just elope i may have some regret never having that experience.

When you die nothing is going to be a thought.

it ain’t the thoughts you have or don’t have once you’re dead, it’s the thoughts you have the moments just before...

I dunno, been thinking about dying lately (not like, in a “wiper needs an intervention” kinda way) and the thought is terrifying. waay too many regrets and things that should have been better. but I guess I take comfort in knowing that everyone that has ever lived has both a) had those same thoughts, and b) faced death anyway.

but when I think like, if I was falling from a building and had 4 seconds before I knew I’d die, it’s depressing as **** thinking about what I bet I’d be thinking about on the way down...

This... This is what I'm talking about. This is what I mean when I'm talkin' about time, and death, and futility. All right, there are broader ideas at work, mainly what is owed between us as a society for our mutual illusions. Fourteen straight hours of staring at DB's, these are the things ya think of. You ever done that? You look in their eyes, even in a picture, doesn't matter if they're dead or alive, you can still read 'em. You know what you see? They welcomed it... Not at first, but... right there in the last instant. It's an unmistakable relief. See, cause they were afraid, and now they saw for the very first time how easy it was to just... let go. Yeah, they saw, in that last nanosecond, they saw... what they were. You, yourself, this whole big drama, it was never more than a jerry-rig of presumption and dumb will, and you could just let go. To finally know that you didn't have to hold on so tight. To realize that all your life - you know, all your love, all your hate, all your memories, all your pain - it was all the same thing. It was all the same dream, a dream that you had inside a locked room, a dream about being a person. And like a lot of dreams, there's a monster at the end of it.

I don't think you realize the damage I'm talking about. I'd have left me, and I like me a lot.

Joking aside, I've known I was going to marry her for almost as long as we've been together, and I was virulantly anti-marriage throughout my twenties and into my thirties. We align on all the major life stuff. Money=Pro, Children=Con, and I already have my life in order with or without her (Have a career, own my own house/car). If I walked in tomorrow on her pegging my neighbor Bob Greenwald, I'd be heartbroken, but my life wouldn't materially change.

Our wedding is a small thing (in Charleston, LDO) that cost us $0 thanks to our families. Can't imagine spending a ton on a wedding, but thankfully, she's going all the planning.

I can relate. I'm about to meet my husband for the first time, and it's like, damn, wasn't this working just fine without being in each other's face 24/7
