i have no interest in college fb, but the 'once in a generation' hype that Luck is generating does imply that he's the best player at the college level at the moment.

seems strange to me that the heisman trophy would go to someone else unless the hype is all bs

you follow nfl, though, right? look at the list of heisman winners of the past and see how many names you even recognize, if you are an nfl follower but not cfb follower

this seems like the kind of thing that is a great example of the difference between football (soccer) and american sports, especially football, but all of the rest as well

certain things just don't "translate" well when you jump up in competition. from high school to college, and then again from college to pros. it's just a different game.

all that being said, i think RGIII will be great in the NFL. what i've said applies more in generalities

I always used to think that the winner of that award was going to be a star in the NFL but yeah when I looked at the list of past winners a few years ago I realised it wasn't the case.

I just can't take college sports seriously tho

And yes, the award is ******ed. The best player is not always a QB or RB or once in a generation a DB who also returns punts. GMAFB.

slightly OT: why would any promising (offensive side) football player with NFL aspirations go to a school which does not run an nfl-style offense

and pitchers dont win baseball mvps...oh wait. He does kinda have a point and I remember knowing that Orlando Pace was the best player in cfb by farrrrrrrrr when I was like 9 years old.

The last 2 Heisman's were both completely fine, expected, and deserved though. Even Tebow, Leinart, and Bush earned theirs which is tough to say as someone who grew up rooting for Notre Dame and UGA.

Everyone, Mebenhoe banned G10 which means he has the power to unban him. He has stated that he's ok with G10 posting under Matthew Stafford as long as he stays strictly behaved. This is similar to what he did with TuT prior to the Bitchface account.
