I have no problem being open about any of this stuff. If you have specific things you'd like to know ask away.

Basically team threads are for fans of that team only, and if you cross into another team's thread, expect to get the banhammer.
not a fan of this rule, i think the single team threads are handled fine right now

some mild trolling is fine and expected, i think the way red sox/yankee fans go back and forth is a good example of that, wouldnt want people getting banned for some mild trolling, but there are a few people who troll the **** out of single team threads and make them unreadable, those people should get banned for it

I think Clark's issue is that it becomes hard to police when it's in that grey area because they are lenient moderators. What is overboard trolling and what isn't? And it's a ton of work for them because they get lots of notifications from those threads, so many notifications are bound to be lost in the shuffle.

So, I get that they want to make it more black and white, even if they personally disagree with it. It makes it easier to moderate - which is also better for population who stay out of their own threads because they become full of trolls rather than the posters on the site. A good example is the Indians thread, which consisted of wiper and GREEAR going at it for pages at a time while the few other Indians' fans (FlyWF, ADLinden, tolbiny, me) stayed out of the threads because of it.

ban the babies and snitches imo

The other issue is that while a certain kind of trolling can be ok for a period of time, after a longer period of time, the exact same trolling gets people upset. There's no way to really say when it becomes "too much" even though nothing has really changed.

This has been a bad decision, given the stat "value added".

i have reported trolls of the yankee thread because i know they are going to lead to huge thread derails. which is why a no trolling policy in STST is a good idea - the troll posts, everyone has to get their shot in at the troll, the troll fires back, and now the thread is all about the troll.

I like this. Ban the troller and the person reporting the post. Takes care of a troll and a whiner.

1. Use Clark's policy for all non-stickied team threads.

2. Have an open "free-for-all" thread stickied in there (you can call it the Octagon).

Modding would be easy. If you venture into the Octagon, it becomes all about ass - your either kick it, or lick it. It's like the Will Smith character getting caught outside after dark in "I am Legend."

The only mod bidnet would be to remove spam or porn. Otherwise, if you go in there and complain, YOU get the ban.

I kinda figured the main page SE thread would be more for arguing. In other words, no change there.

Why are people so angry if you post in a rival team's thread? TomCollins trolls occasionally in the Michigan thread, but it's nothing you'd hear differently if your friend was an Ohio fan.

Clearly you do not fully appreciate Bitchface's body of work, which as far as I can tell (since I no longer read threadzilla) consists entirely of trolling.

It would be tremendously disappointing if this happened. There ought to be a way to allow negative discussion without it turning into a trollfest. I have no doubt it would be more of a judgment call and more work for the moderators, but it really detracts from the site imo if you can't have a good discussion.

If I think Ron Zook is a flaming idiot and want to discuss his exceptionally idiotic decision making I can't do it in the Illinois Football thread? Really? When I'm not trolling and you know, show my work? Just because my allegiance lies with a different team? And you're going to be dishing out bans on request for a harmless "LOL KIFFIN" in the USC thread the next time he does something ******ed?

I think I like the no-trolling in the STST forum. God knows it'll make life easier for everyone. There are conference/division/season threads for everything. You want to lulz at Zook then take it to the season thread. More people can respond to it anyway.

Thinking about it, it clearly makes the most sense going forward. Its not like this is going to hurt discussion in any way, shape, or form. If anything it might keep things on topic more there, and if you are a ****tard you'll quickly get outed in the larger threads inside SE.

If its becoming increasingly difficult to moderate threads due to trolling, I like this idea. Can't even fathom how much of a pita modding is here. I might even start using the stst forum because that might be the only way to discuss what you want without all the annoying **** that permeates most threads here.
