i'm sure you already know this, but Radiohead are definitely a must-see live, if you're into that kind of thing. i've seen them twice now, and both are probably in my top-5 live shows OAT (might be top-2, lol). i'd see them every time they came to town really, and i'd recommend that any fan do the same.
lots of
complete shows on Youtube if anyone doesn't believe me.
as for Tool, i wonder if they're more of one of those bands for people who play, or are in bands. i mean i guess they're really good and technically proficient, but i don't know if they don't have that kind of pop appeal to ever be considered the best by the masses. i wouldn't put them anywhere close to my favourite bands, even though i do like they, and own all their albums, 1 EP, and 1 APC album.

lol, yeah i saw him ~5 years ago, the singing wasn't great, he wasn't even playing the guitar (heard his hand was [censored] for that), but he WAS playing the keyboard. and every song was some alternate arrangement from the original, which i hear is standard for him. even as a fan i didn't recognize like half the songs. of course the super fans next to me, who saw 3/3 shows he played here, loved it. i thought it was ok and had a good time, but wish i could have seen him in his prime. as we were talking about the show in the lobby afterwards with a bunch of people i knew, one guy was like
"I THOUGHT IT SUCKED!!!". i was sort of afraid that the super fans would attack, and i'd actually be drawn into a fight at a Bob Dylan show, lol.

rhcp had 1 awesome album, blood sugar sex magic. everything else has been awful to mediocre.
edit: it would be like saying "lost" is close to "the wire"
i tend to agree, even as someone who kinda likes RHCP, and owns a couple albums. i don't really think that they should be in a "great bands" discussion.
