Speaking from experience this is the main stumbling block for long term approval. When I say experience I don't mean my family specific.
But my parents moved to the UK 25+ years ago along with many of their peers. Many of their peers children have found or been encouraged to find partners from the same background or lolreligion background.
I think my parents evolved well and understand that 'restricting' their child's choice isn't healthy. They have no problem with who we end up with. As long as they are good people. My younger sister has a German partner and they think he's great. Maybe 10-15 years ago they wouldn't have approved. But as I said, my parents adapted well.
