If you're not occasionally getting close to the line, then you must have led a fairly monastic life.

Maybe 20 years ago. The reverse is way more taboo today.

Nope, it's just less common

Edit: in fact I'd say it's less taboo precisely b/c it's less common. The fact that this is so is def lol but that's a diff discussion

Yeah, can't rebel against your parents by ****ing a black chick, hence less common

I can't imagine either is taboo amongst people who aren't racists and I imagine both would be amongst those who are. If parents are racists I doubt they would be more upset with their white son marrying a black woman than their white daughter marrying a black guy or vice versa. I imagine this goes for pretty much any race.

Well yeah, taboo prob not the best word but I think he meant amongst people who care about it. I think you are wrong about the second part b/c I think the nature of such relationships is asymmetric in terms of the type of people involved in black male/white female vs the reverse. Ofc that is largely anecdotal and ultimately we are talking about different degrees of 'bad.' Also, just throwing this out there, but you might be surprised by the number of people who find this sort of thing 'unsettling' although maybe I am inferring too much from your post

I dated an indian girl in high school. Her parents were super pissed I was white. Told them I was her math tutor for awhile, and they liked me then.

I mean, I think the people that find it unsettling are the same people who are racists. Sure there are a lot of racists, but its no secret. I don't know what the different dynamics are though.

I was in a friend's wedding last year (he is white, she is black) and it seemed perfectly normal aside from a lot of us not getting +1s and her having her brother carry her 2 dogs down the aisle to sit in the front row. I don't think either of these things was race related though.

What type of people are involved in black male/white female relationships that aren't involved in any relationship?

Indian parents want no part of whitey foe their kids. The only cure seems to be babies. Once they have grandkids they don't care so much.

For a white guy it seems like the least resistance you would get would be by dating a hispanic girl. I imagine dating a black girl or Asian girl would be tough.

I have a lot of close Indian friends and know their parents and every single one of them would look down a little bit on any other race (and also other religions or where in India their families are from), but marrying a black girl/guy (or in some cases a Pakistani) is the only one that the parents would forbid.

Tougher for Hispanic girls to date black guys than any other racial pairing.

I'm just saying the types of pairings you see are often a little different depending on which sex is black/white. Again, largely anecdotal but for instance I'd say you see more black male/white female relationships that cross class than white male/black female. There are many reasons why that could he true, but I'm pretty confident in that read

I'm talking about the family resistance the white guy might feel though.

But I could be biased here in Houston hispanics and whites mix pretty well. Also probably biased b/c my brother married a Mexican-American girl and her dad seemed to love him.

I got a white friend who dated a few Asian girls and he seemed to complain a lot about resistance from her dad. Ended up settling with a whitey.

I've dated people of multiple ethnicities (I'm white), the pushback I've received is:

1. Dating black girl in Washington, D.C., drunk black guy at bar does not appreciate it, does not escalate.

2. Dating (same) black girl in Washington, D.C., drunk white idiot asks me gross questions at a bar, does not escalate.

3. Dating korean girl in Washington, D.C., old man tells me, regarding asian women, that I shouldn't be "dating that, it probably has V.D" while we are playing golf (she is not there). Worst thing I've ever heard a person say to another person in real life. Did not speak a word to him for the rest of the round.

4. Dating indian girl in Southern Cailfornia, family likes me but makes it clear to her that she has no future with me. She is currently in an arranged marriage. This is not like the others, I've always found it fairly troubling, though.

In summary regarding the first three, idiots gonna idiot sometimes, it's not a big deal.

Fourth one is something I don't understand.

Hispanics are basically whites (southern european) mixed with indigenous central/south americans anyhow. Don't see why hispanic parents would be opposed to a white partner on the basis of race.

White parents might be opposed to a child, esp daughter, dating a hispanic because hispanics have low social status in many parts of the country. Perceptions of violent and criminal tendencies also exist.

Parental thing seems like a nonissue as long as you seem like a good person to the parents. Maybe Southern California is a little more "mixed" just naturally though, sample bias.
