Golf is great. I'm horrible, but if you aren't really competitive about it all you're doing is drinking and gambling with friends for a few hours. Usually get to drive a cart too, legal drink driving baby. Fun times.

I don't follow professional golf at all - but anyone that can't have fun wandering around a course hitting balls, drinking and talking **** is not about this life. Wish I had more time to get a bit better at it, but never I never fail to enjoy the rare occasion i play.

How does one learn golf? I've been to the range a few times but that's it. Should I just play a round and learn as I go?

Nah, tweedy can like what he likes, and I can understand people disliking golf.

Where he is a dumbass is for not understanding that people like different things. To me, sports drafts, NASCAR, hunting, and fishing are four of the least interesting ways I could possibly think of to kill some spare time but if people enjoy those things then good for them. Maybe one day I will too.

If we all liked golf it would cost more and the courses would be more crowded.

hit balls until you feel comfortable hitting with many different clubs then try a par 3 course to get the feel for it

Go to the range and hit 2 large buckets of only your driver. See how far you can launch the ball. Then leave.

The driver is the most important club to master and most amateurs waste way too much time on the putting green and their short game.

I'm obviously kidding.

I can understand most things, but people that sit down and watch all of the NFL/NBA drafts is something I will never understand.

speaking of NASCAR, I am going to Talledega this weekend. I have watched maybe 50 laps of NASCAR in my life and don't know what car I should be rooting for. All I know about the sport is that if you aint first your last. Is it like a horse race where you don't really watch the race? Any tips from the NASCAR pros out there?

I can enjoy both a serious round and a drunken dick-around round. No reason you can't enjoy golf in different ways.

i am terrible at golf and would never spend the time and effort necessary to get good at it. i also find it the most boring of the popular sports to watch (would rather watch nascar although that is second most boring).

but it's easy to see the appeal of playing it. it's an enjoyable, relaxing (as long as you don't care about the results i guess) way to spend a few hours with friends.

Closest I've gotten to NECKCAR was going to the Indy time trials circa 1993. It was kinda fun. Lot of Winston cigarette packs on the ground. Not many Kools.

Rode back to St. Louis very late Sunday night/Mon morning b/c I had school the next day. Guy driving us was running his '79 Camaro at like 100mph most of the way while blaring Pearl Jam's Ten album.

Everytime the #88 car drives by you, stand up and scream JUNIOR. You'll be fine.
