Yes, the question was worded poorly was on phone.

But, unless you are being nitty for sake of being nitty its pretty obvious what the intent was.

When you're a fan of a team that perenially sucks but then miraculously boxes a championship, you get to be a preening hipster douchelord who tells anyone who will listen how you've been a fan way longer than the johnny-come-lately casual bandwagoners.

There's value in that.

Confirmed - spring of 2004 for me during Calgary's Cinderella run to the SCF. Problem is, they lost. lol Canada, etc.

I've had experience with both. They suck. Flames have been to the 2nd round once in 25 years since their only Cup (that would be the '04 run). That run was sandwiched by 7 years of no playoffs and perpetual threat of relocation, and 4 years of first round exits, followed by a complete blowup of the organization and what's about to be 4 consecutive years of no playoffs, with no end in sight.

I would take a title 100% though. I am so desperate to see a title before I need to grow up and pretend like this stuff doesn't matter.

last shot, hope this helps.
ok, here is my answer then.

there are a bunch of different scenarios I will consider.

For the no playoffs, 1 title streak to end you can have (I'm sure I left some out):
1. a title to end the streak
2. a playoff appearance with no title to end the streak
3. an unknown end where the season can go in any direction

For the playoffs every year and no title steak to end you can have (I'm sure I left some out):
A: a title to end the streak
B: missing the playoffs to end the streak
C: an unknown end where the season can go in any direction

This matrix explains my preferences for these scenarios. All preferences are listed where the number in the box represents the tipping point for where I would prefer the playoff team with no titles over the one with one title an no other playoffs.

0 1 2 3
A 25+ 20+ 15+
B lifetime lifetime 50+
C 35+ 30+ 25+

The Cleveland Browns haven't achieved anything since I gained memory. I am almost 30 and I have essentially no positive memories of my team. Annually, the most exciting day of the year as a fan is the draft. And they even **** that up.

No ****ing way being a fan of any team is worse than being a Browns fan.

Nothing wrong with being exhaustive in a response, looking at all the angles, or asking clarifying questions imo. Pretty much every person I respect professionally values all three of those traits highly.

Do the people you respect professionally get sucker punched frequently also?

Bills, Lions, Browns is the pretty clear triumvirate of hell for NFL fans.

Bills fans at least have one run where there was excitement around the team, and Lions fans have other sports that have been good, so the Browns being the main team in the area and painfully bad make them the worst team to root for.

Yeah, people probably underrate the journey of being a fan of a decent non-titling team. Right under the threshold of being made fun of all the time of course.

For casual bandwagoners the middling team might as well be awful because they are tuned out before the playoffs roll around.

I think being a fan of a team that makes runs but doesn't win a title is way better than being a fan of an awful franchise. The excitement of possibilities is much better than just having zero expectations and knowing the franchise has no hope.

but, you know they're not winning a title though? unless you're looking at it from in hindsight, in which case I think there's a pretty strong temptation to take the title, since there's no sweating your team left to do.

theres no point in even being a fan if you know what will happen though

my x value is pretty low. rooting for a crappy team sucks. you lose years and years of potential entertainment to apathy and a championship really doesnt make up for that since you forget it after the rangz are handed out the next year and its back to "WTF 0-2 START FIRE THE COACH BENCH THAT GUY ARGHHHHHHHH"

Apparently, the major reason for the bitcoin's rise in value was due to bots making trades with themselves to artificially raise the price. So basically, someone bought a **** ton of bitcoins for cheap, then started selling them to himself at above market value to drive up the price, then cashed out.

well, I assumed that is how we had to look at it because how else could we choose which team to root for?
