I think 311 might be the worst band of the 90s compared to their "peers". Down and their cover of Lovesong (Love Song) are just awful, and they should feel bad.

I locked in my rate because, at the time, I thought "4.5% sounds pretty low and I like knowing what my payments will be every month - and if they go much lower I can always refi".

Back from like 2000-2007 in the US, people were buying interest-only or ARMs and getting into homes with little or no money down. I know who some of these people are and several of them were on my FB feed from like 2008-2011 posting about their home for sale because they couldn't afford the $3,700 payment or whatever. Massive tards.

I pay $753/mo. for the next 11+ years.

Yeah. Pretty much this. The mortgage crisis caused lots of ARMs to skyrocket. Especially lolworthy to say variable mortgages are fine when a bunch of **** just went down recently.

You're making it worse.

If there is significant inflation going forward that is MORE of a reason to have a fixed rate mortgage, not less of one. If inflation goes to 10% you start paying like 12% interest with a variable mortgage and keep paying 4.5% or whatever on a fixed rate mortgage. This is ridiculously simple and obvious to anyone with a functioning brain.

Thanks again for the great post.

As mentioned back then, I changed because its usually not a good idea if a coworker in a new job knows your SN. Now I've moved onto bigger and better things and don't care if he knows. Coincidentally, he (like you?) is also looking for a used car for $15k.

I don't disagree with any of this. And don't see where I did.

To be fair, variable base rates are lower than fixed. Since the Fed is pretty content keeping rates low for a while, fixed isn't the slam dunk you guys are making it out to be.

It really isn't that big a deal.

lol Riverman getting all condescending out and trying to go internet badass on him

someone really needs to slap that guy

knowing about interest rates isn't a sign of functional intelligence and isn't important to plenty of people. just because you know a lot about it doesn't make you awesome

it's lol that he's trying to defend himself, but nothin to get all mad over

Think Riverman hitting that one time on his 50k post means it should be a whole new ballgame for 50,001-99,999. Clean slate.
