Do her a favor and use a sharpie to fill in the first digit so it says "3.1". Factual accuracy FTW!

Went to see Dave Matthews on Friday at the Gorge. I'm not a fan of them, but daaaaaamn, honestly might have been the best concert I've ever been to. The production was amazing, visually really great, and it sounded phenomenal.

In front of me in the pit were basically the quintessential DMB douche bag fans though. These three dudes in the mid 20's had earplugs in for the whole concert and they literally just stood there and did nothing the entire time. Barely talked, didn't sing, didn't groove or whatever. Just stood there like statues. Who does that lol?? Spend like ~$100 to see a band and do **** all the entire time. I can only assume they probably go to every show just to say they were there.

Anyway, if you have a chance to see them there, I strongly recommend it, even if you don't like them.

Well it's better than the lawn crowd, which are the actual douchebags. I'm assuming the Pit people are just rich people who don't know how to have a good time.

Usually they aren't even aware that they are at a concert, high and drunk as ****. Seems strange to pay $50+ to be completely incoherent. It's basically impossible to go to a DMB show and be on the lawn without it sucking balls.

[OLD MAN RANT]Just because they're not "grooving" doesn't mean they weren't enjoying the show. Not everyone goes nuts at concerts, but odds are they still appreciate the music. Also, earplugs may look incredibly lame, but some people don't mind a slight sacrifice in sound quality (which tends to be distorted as **** at large rock concerts anyway) in order to protect their hearing. Having that buzzing sound and loss of hearing for days afterward sucks, not to mention any permanent damage inflicted. [/OLD MAN RANT]

I don't think the pit was full of rich people. At the Gorge they have reserved seating just behind the Pit, and those are expensive seats.

Yeah I am well aware why people wear earplugs, but as I mentioned, the sound was amazing and not distorted one bit. I didn't notice any bad hearing damage, although I am sure I got some.

Not grooving is some boring ass **** imo when the band is jamming like mofos, whatever though. I don't really like them and I was like "**** yeah!" hahaha

This was the third show I've seen there. The other two were "festival" concerts, so no where near as good production, etc. Still cool seeing Cypress Hill and Snoop Dogg at the Gorge though. I would say its a must see at least once for any show really.

knowing Pecota IRL, it wouldnt shock me at all to hear that he went to a concert, sat there with a frowny face on and listened to it in its entirety with earplugs not moving an inch

he's like clint eastwood in a 26yo's body minus being a republican

Glad to hear they didn't mess that up. It seems like so many venues (from small clubs to arenas) feel obligated to pump up the noize, regardless of whether it actually makes the music sound good. Maybe it's just a reality of dealing with concert venues and the equipment available without people in the back not being able to hear.

yeah I know exactly what you mean. The Gorge has really good acoustics for an outdoor venue and DMB performs there every year for three days on Labor Day Weekend, so its like his baby essentially. I think they were also filming the concert for a DVD, so there was extra incentive to get the audio dead on.

DMB audio is always very good

Most of their audio equipment was inherited from The Grateful Dead actually, for some obscure trivia.

Nah, the only standoffish thing I do is bring earplugs. I got a pair specially designed for concerts that don't make everything sound muffled. I actually enjoy shows with them more because it doesn't feel like my ears are bleeding half way through the set. But yeah, just imagine this when I talk and it makes more sense:
