Internet advertisers really shot themselves in the foot by making ads so annoying and distracting.
If all the ads were simple text and pictures, I probably wouldn't have bothered to block them, but they got greedy and made everything pop ups and obnoxious flashing gifs.

******* also had the best April fools gag ever when they replaced all the ads with cats.

Meh, they get paid mostly via the click, so the people smart enough to figure out how to block ads probably weren't the ones getting fooled by 'YOU ARE THE 1 MILLIONTH VISITOR' flashing seizure ads

I would imagine I am pretty typical for a 29 year old heavy internet user in that I have never, ever bought anything as a result of internet advertising.

The add-ons don't just block the obnoxious ads though, they block all ads.

I was never going to click a giant flashing ad, but I might have clicked a reasonable ad for something I am actually interested in. Now they are both blocked.

Re: SE FAQ, Liveblog and Forum Discussion

The only ads that still get me are the google ones that show up a half second after the rest of your search results load at the very top, I've clicked on those so many times meaning to click on the first result
