iirc initially you're supposed to think that michael is suspicious of cutty because cutty is nailing the mothers of the kids at the gym. then you find out later (or can infer) that it's because he was molested.

Re: SE FAQ, Liveblog, Jetto Post-Mortem Discussion

They were pretty unsubtle about how Mike reacted to Cutty touching him and what not. I don't think we were ever "supposed" to think anything else. It's not like Cutty was close to tapping Mike's crackhead mom.

I also don't think we were supposed to think he suspected Cutty of anything, just that he was so sensitive that he didn't want to be around any older guy alone and reacted to innocent stuff like Cutty putting his arm around him while he watched the fight.

Chris's beatdown of Michael's dad is one of the most satisfying yet horrible things on the show.

i initially thought michael was just homophobic or something and he thought cutty was hitting up the kids moms as a distraction just to get at the kids. which is a pretty lol theory and the right answer is bug's dad

like i said this may be the case and would be unsurprising, but it doesn't really matter. he wasn't banned just b/c he might have been some random poster trying to circumvent a ban. if he was in fact doing that it was an odd way to go about it b/c he never posted in the thread before, so entering and stirring up arguments is not a good way to avoid detection.

not going to requote my entire exchange with clark, but he was banned b/c he was believed to be epi. in a vacuum i understand that b/c mods were on watch for epi gimmicks and this guy pops out of nowhere into the nba thread citing some stats that a reg might-- as an aside, real point here should be that this is not the only place where people talk about more advanced ways of analyzing basketball players-- but i was/am basically certain it was not epi or anyone else the mods would have gone out of their way to ban in normal circumstances

edit: if he was that means someone went through the trouble of trying to level me on two different forums simultaneously. a poster on a videogame forum asked me if i was also tarheeljks on 2p2 around the same time that debeers asked me if i lived in san jose (my location on the other forum is san jose,ca)

i saw all of roman debeers' posts, idk anything about the other accounts. frankly i do not think he was sucking, at least not in the nba thread (idk if he posted elsewhere). i just went back and skimmed most of his posts. he quotes a bunch of advanced stats and argues with regs-- where is the sucking occurring exactly?

edit: he called some people ******s as well, i doubt he was banned for this though

i didn't agree w/many of his points, but he attempted to justify his rationale. i think his reaction to being ganged up on was pretty predictable

edit2: legitimate point not wanting to make it easy to evade detection. i'm telling you it's not epi though

idk why i've taken such a vested interest in seeing him unbanned tbh. idk him personally, though i know people who know him. i just know he's been in the other community for years so none of the other stuff adds up

i don't recall him posting anything that intimated previous knowledge of nba posters or thread history*.second part is not compelling at all imo, esp given that i know he worked for espn for a spell (not in some major capacity. fantasy sports iirc, but he was likely being exposed to the new wave statistics). anyway, 2p2 is not the only place people discuss these things

* assuming this was the case it doesn't change the fact that he was banned for being epi and was not actually epi

Re: SE FAQ, Liveblog, Jetto Post-Mortem Discussion

Roman wasn't a gimmick in the sense that it was just an account for a banned poster that happened to take a name from a TV show. He was transparently somebody familiar with 2p2. That was just my impression from his OOTV posting.

yeah i get that angle and i get how the circumstantial evidence piled up at the time. my point is that the conclusion was off as i had info more reliable than an ip check

Sorry about your cat BA. We put my dog down earlier this year (13), and we have 2 cats, one of whom is now deaf and probably on her last legs (19). Somehow she keeps plugging along though. Other cat is 13 but is kind of ******ed so she doesn't seem old yet.

Good luck.

Re: SE FAQ, Liveblog, Jetto Post-Mortem Discussion

the "previous poster knowledge" was wrt to him calling me a troll in the bill simmons thread even though we had basically no interaction outside of like 1 post exchange in the bb thread (i did troll a good bit in the breaking bad thread. of course i was trolling tut and it was before he stopped posting in the bb thread and before debeers did).

speaking of the bb thread, tut's last two posts in it were 10/09 and 10/13. debeers first post in that thread was 10/11. just another coincidence. he also shared very similar opinions about bb w/ tut.

and of course the use of ldo, and the advanced stat knowledge. all coincidences.

edit: so yeah the mods were probably wrong for banning him for being epi cause he was almost certainly tut.

Re: SE FAQ, Liveblog, Jetto Post-Mortem Discussion

These banned users have made it real hard for a message board veteran to stumble over here. But one thing is true, who is stumbling on SE (and OOTV?)? Most users start in poker-related forums and wander into these places and never leave. What new user is immediately clicking on SE, unless someone has told him that here's a good place to discuss sports?

Pecota is an example of this, but, as you state in the end of your post, I told him to come start posting here. He's never played poker in his life I'm pretty sure.

Meh, I was lurking the WPT forum (lololololol @ me) back in 2005 and mentioned that to an irl friend of mine, who mocked me appropriately and pointed me to OOT, which eventually led to me regging and posting way, way too much.

Also, an irl friend of mine regged here after I linked him to a thread and posted in hockey and golf threads for awhile before tapering off.

That plus the Pecota story suggests that "referrals from friends" is some percentage of the user base. Unfortunately that's about all it is these days - the forums' biggest problem is lack of new posters and fresh blood over the past 3-4 years, something I imagine won't improve any time soon as long as the US poker lockdown is in place. So the numbers will dwindle via attrition - people leaving organically or getting banned (although I guess this group rarely leaves, unfortunately).

then the person he knows that you know is tut (and tut prob posted on his account).

you can't expect me to come to any other conclusion without direct evidence to the contrary though. i'd have to be either ******ed or incredibly naive. so i guess this won't go anywhere.

Re: SE FAQ, Liveblog, Jetto Post-Mortem Discussion

i have talked to him on this forum and on another (which is a very tightly knit community) and know enough personal information about him to know it's impossible for him to be tut or epi

edit: not to mention our common friend is not just an internet acquaintance, but someone i actually know

edit2: who lives in the same state as me, which is on the other side of the continent from tut and epi
