Standard reporting that Spurs have bid..... exactly half that

Sounds a lot more realistic.

I thought Ings' contract was up and he was making his dream move to Liverpool on a free?

Orly? Who are the BVB players that have gone for £75m and £50m and are on silly wages?

Doesn't suit the style of play. Gets injured a lot. Decent player but as a first choice replacement for Sturridge the price is a bit much.

Didn't Torres play quite a lot in the CL when pool were an established top4 team - I believed people even referred to them as part of the 'big 4'.

By the way, my argument isn't 'it's impossible to get exposure if you're not in the CL'. Clearly, the PL is the best league to play in to get exposure. If you set it alight like Suarez did then you will move to a bigger club.

My point is that CL, or the likelihood of getting there in the future, plays a big role in decision making, and as such, Dortmund or Atletico will continue getting exactly the sorts of players that Pool are interested in. I do accept Baid's point that the pay gap between here and Europe will make these sorts of things less important om the future though.

His contract doesn't finish until the end of June. Clubs can make offers and avoid going to tribunal if Burnley accept the offer.

My point is that right now, the chances of Liverpool getting hold of the next Torres/Suarez, are remote. I don't think the average Liverpool fan gets this.

Immobile hardly played. You'd have to compare Lewa/Auba for us. Auba had a very good season despite the general suck we poured onto the field for a good chunk of it.

Lewa #1 true striker in the world though. He's just too insane.

Subotic extended until 2018, no further information (I'm assuming we upped his salary). I'm a huge Sokratis fanboy and wouldn't mind playing time for Ginter either but that's still a pretty good extension. With Hummels announcing he stays we're essentially starting the season with what should be 4 pretty good CBs.

Watzke also said that Gündo will be sold for sure this summer. He was at Barca for a medical iirc but Pogba odds for Barca are pretty solid. Maybe he'll end up at ManU after all.
If we get decent money I'm pretty happy to unload him. Too risky. Def a very good ceiling gamble for many clubs though.

Also some lol-rumors of swapping Gündo for cash+Højbjerg...ehhh snapcall if true?!

---
I think Bayern should sell Schweini if they get a decent offer. Should also consider selling Lahm, I tihnk both are trending downwards but can still be sold for good $$$.

Pretty much agree with all of this. Spurs and Pool are probably actually in a tier 3. Tier 2 consists on perennial CL qualifiers who have decent wage bills in big leagues: Arsenal, BVB, Juve.
Our wage bill is pretty modest outside of Reus. Would be shocked if Pool didn't pay better.

I'd also like to say that I would have loved to sell Hummels for the rumoured 40 million. Our fans seem to be pretty delusional. The man is smart, he'll stay and leave next year or on a free after that and roll in PL moneyz.
I'd be ultrahappy if we can somehow extend him after half a season under Tuchel but I put the odds for that at 5%.

If we're lucky we can sell him for sickPLTVmoneyz even with one year contract next season. Need at least 2 interested English clubs.

Götze went for 32m due to his buy out clause - Suzrez's was 40m the season before he was sold to Barca and Lewandowski would have gone for 50m if he didn't leave BVB on a free transfer.

So you're saying Suarez raised his value 35m in one season without CL football while playing for Liverpool? Kind of makes my point. And LOL at players from Bayern's feeder club joining Bayern

Lol at turning our noses up at benteke, have you seen how our forwards and midfield have linked with balo and Lambert? Benteke is another nightmare for the way coutinho and sterling play.

Yeah, that's working out well, might as well halt all future plans based solely on that.

I'd much rather he even went to a top 5 side like Spurs.

Meh, that was somebody else's argument, not mine. I'm with you. Liverpool is a perfectly good place to go for a player who wants to raise their profile.

My argument is that if the money is the same, players want to play in the best competitions and to have the greatest chance of success. Liverpool enables you to play in the EPL but you're not likely to win it and if you're there for four years, you can probably expect to make the Champions League once.

Prospects that are as obviously great as Torres and Suarez don't want to go to Liverpool. Proven players that are significantly better than Benteke don't want to go to Liverpool. That's how things are until Liverpool get a lot richer and/or prove that they are a good prospect to make the Champions League year on year.

Benteke has a decent record for Belgium suggesting he can link up well with tricky, quick-thinking, intelligent forwards. He can probably do well with the type of forwards Liverpool have too.

“In the summer we wanted Gaston Ramírez, but he went to Hull City,” Emery reveals. “We can’t compete economically with Hull City. We pay less, but we compete more. It’s hard to explain that. Ramírez didn’t even reply, he ignored my calls. We had won the Europa League but he didn’t pick up the phone. I don’t know if he is playing, but now we’re in another final. Our fans love this competition.”
