Doubt theres that much difference between barry prime and carrick prime..Not enough to warrent a "lol X post from 3/4 years ago". But w/e hehe. I think Gerrard+Carick preformed very well when paired.

It did and so did Lampard and Carrick IIRC but as soon as the next competitive game came around it was back to Lampard and Gerrard then they'd be dominated in midfield against anyway one with a great midfielder.

Over here Gerrard and Lampard are the ultimate midfielders, there is no better. Fat blokes and media (for the most part) can't understand why someone like Pirlo dominates them every single time they play.

If anything, Carrick is overrated; United's massive fanbase wants to mythologize him but success during his time in the squad has been much more down to e.g. SAF, CR7, Rooney, Ferdinand, Scholes, Vidic, RVP etc. than Carrick's task of getting the ball in space at the halfway line and leisurely playing it 10 yards forward.

He plays his role fine, but it's not particularly difficult. If you were to rank players in Carrick's position, replacing him with someone 20 spots lower wouldn't have much of an effect on United.
