really wonder what real madrid's plan is for deeper CM as kroos/modric/khedira are all better in a more advanced role

interesting enough i stumbled across one of the few games where khedira was forced to play the role

one of the worst german performances in a competitive environment in recent memory with germany unable to cope with austria's early pressing, khedira as deepest CM looked out of his depth.

unfortunately analysis of the game is only in german

Guess that means no Barca move for Vertonghen.

Havent seen much of Khedira at RM but he played the deep CM for Germany for years and was a elite destroyer 2012. His importance for Germany is due to his defensive ability not his strength in offensive play.

He also did it for an hour in the Champions League final until he got substituted. Looked completely lost there too, but he had just been out for 6 months.

Pretty sure the plan is too play Alonso until his legs give out. He was really good last season. After that illarramendi was probably meant to take over but I kinda doubt that will happen now.

wasn't real heavily linked to rakitic before he joined barca?
having like a trillion options for all attacking positions but only Alonso/illarramendi for the deep cm role seems pretty odd(not that real's/barca's transfer dealings ever make much sense)

Chelsea can't be keeping both Cech and Courtois, right?

Maybe play Courtois in the league and Cech is the cup ties kinda like Real did with Iker and Lopez?

Arsenal should sign Cech to provide competition to Szczęsny, Opsina & Cassilas

This seems like a possibility. Though having two top 10 keepers seems unecessary when only one can play and its not exactly a position which needs to rest players. Ofc if something happens to one of them then we are still absolutely fine.

I would be surprised if come our first game it's not Courtois starting.

free valdes vs 20m cech on similar wages is a no-brainer

and honestly im not sure u can judge cech accurately, valdes is an elite one-on-one keeper and the 2nd best sweeper and one of the best distributors. cech basically stops shots and grabs crosses exclusively.

I know he is injured but surprised a club hasn't brought him in considering he is a free agent.

Swansea City can confirm the signing of Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson for an undisclosed fee, while Ben Davies and Michel Vorm have moved in the opposite direction.

Gylfi and 3-5 million for Davies/Vorm is quite a nice deal.

I'd be very confident going into the new season adding those 2 to Lambert, Can, Lallana, Markovic, Remy and Lovern. I know Lovern isn't signed yet but it feels like only a matter of time and a few extra million and he'll be Liverpool.

Caulker is one I feel that could be a missed opportunity, I really rate him and he'd be an upgrade on Agger with potential to be a top class CB. QPR have got a bargain.

Anyone here have a particularly good feel for Manquillo? I watched a lot of Atlético but he barely played. Looks like a very good athlete with good size on film. You don't get much feel for decision making from a highlight package though. Enrique and Johnson would both look awesome if you got to pick out their highlights...

Pretty surprised United still haven't moved on any of their excess attackers. How is Nani still at the club?
If Lukaku stays at Chelsea, Everton should just buy Ba for £5m or so.
