Bryan Swanson on SSN just said that it's £35m (pounds not Euro).

Also reported that Spurs have accepted an offer from LA Galaxy for Robbie Keane.

cmon Ballbag has to have got the price wrong at about £25m.

if not then it's massiveLOLarsenal.

eta...even at £35m Arsenal have been robbed, but probably as much as they could squeeze out of Barca.

keano gone by morning hopefully. opens the door for a new striker signing at least. wages were always the big issue, so that frees up 60-65k pw plus we are probably willing to add a bit to that. could see us going as high as 100k depending on the player, but most likely around 80-85. unfortunately with cesc gone arsenal could potentially hijack any targets we have, particularly the mata, lavezzi type.

shouldn't bother thinking about it though. we won't sign a forward.

£35m for Cesc is so gross, even if his hamstrings are dodgy.

not really sure what the details are, but like I said a few days ago, 30mil up front is a lot better than 40 over 4 years. Also I am glad the whole thing is over, now its up to Wenger to buy because he will have hell to pay otherwise. **** Barca as well, your campaign up public tapping up worked. I wonder how long Cesc's hammies will hold out? At least you guys have a willing physical trainer for him in Pique.

You poach our youth, we gonna lowball the **** out of you for that youth back. You can't really complain.

And it has to be 35m pounds which is still a great price (less if we don't win 2 domestic + CL in 5 years). No way it is in euros.

I heard the commentary saying that the deal for cesc is 14 million now, another 14 million in October, cesc him self will pay arsenal for 6 or 5 years a million a year. And if Barcelona wins in the next 5 years one time the cl or the 2x the spanish league then barca will pay another 6 million i believe(not sure about that last number). Source is the commentary he said it was all over spanish news.

This is similar to what the rumors have been saying for the last day or so (all in pounds):

14 million now
14 million in October
Cesc paying 1 million/yr for 5 years
2 million for each La Liga title (limit 2) and CL (limit 1) over the next 5 years

so 28 + 5 + 6 variables

This may or may not have been what was final though.

Clever from Arsenal, now their fans will have a rooting interest in the latter stages of the champions league.

Thats some deal.

Is that in £/€?

Also mental that Cesc is willing to put up his own cash for the deal, must want out pretty badly*

How long do we get to make the Cesc = Andy Carroll jokes?

I would be surprised if Cesc didn't force this through by basically telling them he wasn't going to play. I just don't see any other way it makes sense. It's definitely a lowball offer in this market, and I can't see why Arsenal ever sells unless Cesc forced them to.

Which would make sense as well, if he's desperate enough to pay for part of the move himself.

Interesting to see what Arsenal do in the transfer market from here.

And I guess Barca can stop including buy-back clauses in all their deals if they're going to be able to get sweetheart deals like this.

Jack, it kind of makes sense in that when Barca want "their" player back, the player will be so desperate to leave that they'll be forced to sell him for less than he's worth, as happened here.

He will also make it back in tax that he won't have to pay. There was a guy on talksport the other day that explained it but basically he won't be losing any money as he'll be saving it on tax by moving to Spain.

Sure, he may not lose money as against staying at Arsenal, but he's still losing money as against if Barca paid the entire fee themselves.

Yeah its really our fault

Funny that your talking points never include the fact that these players want to leave because they see little chance of first team football any time soon at Barca, or the fact that the teams they go to have spend money and resources continuing their training. Its not like teams buy finished gems from Barca.

Right, even if you don't think Barca is getting screwed with Spanish law not allowing them to offer professional contracts as soon as English clubs can (they are, but not Arsenal's fault), it is still a risk you take when you bring Barca players at a young age to England. As Cesc has shown, when they get really effing good, they are liable to want to come back and basically rob you of the full upside of your investment. That has to be in the calculations.
