Wow, Wenger. Seriously, buy Vertonghen from Ajax or Alex from Chelsea or something like that... when are they gonna see this?

Why not sign Koscielnys replacement at Lorient? Must be a troll...

Also, Chamakh should just keep his mouth shut.

And since no one else posted it itt, Atletico have signed Arda Turan from Galatasaray for £10.5m.

Tottenham Hotspur have held talks with Real Madrid over the possibility of signing the long-term target Lassana Diarra, although the midfielder's wage demands have made the prospect of a deal unlikely.

Harry Redknapp, the Tottenham manager, signed Diarra for £5.5m in January 2008, when he was in charge at Portsmouth, and he has previously attempted to bring him to White Hart Lane.

Redknapp might appear well stocked in central midfield, where he has Luka Modric, Tom Huddlestone, Sandro, Jermaine Jenas and Wilson Palacios. Tottenham are adamant that Modric will not be allowed to join Chelsea, who have offered as much as £27m for him so far this summer, although they will listen to offers for Jenas and Palacios.

Redknapp, though, is always on the lookout for players he thinks can improve his squad and he would like to take Diarra, who is surplus to requirements at Real.

He has had an interest in the West Ham United midfielder Scott Parker but Tottenham say there will be no deal for him, partly because of his wages. Diarra earns much more than Parker at Real, taking home £120,000 a week, which is far in excess of Tottenham's wage ceiling.

close to 0% chance he is on 120k pw. have heard its a done deal, just being delayed on our end. probably want to clear out a squad spot before getting him in. not sure if the palacios to stoke is for real or not, but hutton should probably be going soon.

your right. i guess you shouldn't talk about anybody above 4th and newly promoted teams can only say stuff about teams in the championship right? shouldn't even say things like "messi is an elite player", after all, wtf would i know about elite players.

post more please

do you really think diarra is on 120k pw? hutton to villa has been on the cards all window, don't think we will let him be here sep 1st. walker makes him totally redundant.

the one guy who is pretty much always right has said a deal has been agreed for diarra. obviously you have to be careful with that kind of stuff but the guy works for spurs and seems to know everything that is going on and only shares some of the time, typically when its too late for the info to affect anything.

Why wouldn't Diarra be on 120k p/w playing for the Spanish Central Bank?

yeah I guess I shouldn't be surprised at all that Diarra is on that. When he originally signed, didn't they bring him in as a starter or at least getting big minutes since Gago hadn't done much?

this is the first time i have seen anything about 120k. iirc some have said as high as 100 though. are you going to believe the media that think modric is on 50k pw then 45 then 35. he's probably on -25k pw now at the rate it was going.

you also have to wonder if some sort of agreement will be worked out there. i would have expected vdv to be out of our wage structure, but he obviously wasn't a problem.

How many players that have sniffed the first XI of RM in the last 2-3 seasons do you think aren't on 100k+ pw?

higuain deffo wasn't til his last extension. not sure if he is or not now. is arbeloa? i don't believe ramos was either, but hasn't he resigned in the last year or so? guessing ozil isn't either, was probably on 30k pw tops in germany and didn't go for that big a fee. i doubt they quaded up his wages. ditto for khedira. think people overestimate wages some. its really inflated by ronaldo and kaka. casillas probably makes a killing for a gk too.

Eto'o on the verge of a move to Anzhi....

According to GDS, it's E35m and wages are 20m a season.

Casillas' contract guarantees that he's tied with Ronaldo (or anyone else that signs a bigger contract for Real in the future). Pretty sweet deal, Raul's was the same. This got a lot of publicity when Ronaldo went to Real.

You have to realize that Feyenoord finished 10th in the Eredivsie. Their standards aren´t that high (Also they started dramatically (lose 10-0 vs PSV) even for their standards, so it was somewhat expected that they would improve)

Seriously, a player really needs to excell and be a big star in the Dutch league before he would be a useful addition for English clubs, especially for a team that wishes to qualify for the CL.

Sure Ryo is talented and fun to watch, but I´m 90% sure that he isn´t going to be v useful THIS season. He might play some cup matches and substitute in when Arsenal leads 2-0 with 15 min to go.. Fine to have at the club, but claming that he´s "like a new signing" is fooling the supporters imo.

fwiw I would rate Wesley Verhoek (whom cancelled his 2.5M euro transfer to Championship club Nottingham Forrest) higher than Ryo atm. Sure Ryo's peak is higher, but it may take 2-3 years before he approaches that peak

A kid who was playing High School soccer this time last year in Japan might not make a huge difference to the EPL campaign of a title/top 4 contender this season? Say it ain't so.

arseblog had this funny comment back/forth on him tho.

I didn't sat you were unentitled to an opinion, merely that your opinion came across as bitter. No one even said they were elite signings or that their signing destined Arsenal to make the top 4.

Post more straw mans please.
