That may even be a red card because the attacker isn't even near the ball and the 'argument' that something like this is ok (because attackers run into goalkeepers) clearly doesn't apply here.

A lot of traffic in front of the net on this one.
Not that bad IMO. I couldn't tell what was going on in that video but the other one it was immediately obvious. Your Michigan bias is showing here, which is actually good for you since it makes your defense of Alexi Lalas not look quite as terrible

lol i explicitly said i was only defending lalas bc of my michigan bias sir That being said, stfu lalas is god.

I've watched it in HD and was on the bench during the game... the ball didn't go in. It clearly isn't as bad though ldo.

Looks like England's World Cup winning goal.

I shall ignore IPB's crude, unsophisticated lure above, except to say it wasn't the winning goal, we were already 3-2 up.

Good idea for those worried about crime at the World Cup IMO

Shame they don't sell them in club colours for teams going to play European ties in Italy.

It's delibrate and a clear red card imo.

Nonsense, goalkeepers are way overprotected these days. If they jump and fall over its ALWAYS a free kick out no matter what actually happened. They can use their hands ffs why do they need such protection? It's not like its the old days where you are allowed to charge the keeper.

Intresting situation in the A-League at the moment...

Daniel McBreen is what some would call a bit of a journeymen footballer, not super great, but hardworking etc... Anyway, he signed for North Queensland Fury, an A-League team for the current season. He plays up until December, where it is announced that next season he will play for Central Coast Mariners, another team in the A-League. The deal I think was only a 1 year deal with NQF. Thats all fine.

Anyway, last week McBreen gets used in a trade with Jimmy Downey and is now playing for my team Perth Glory... and scored a goal today for us vs Adelaide (suck it ChrisV )

McBreen has no contract to play for (compared to Eugene Dadi who moved A-league clubs but is at least looking for a contract next year with Wellington, we are in playoff contention but hardly title contenders IMO, and it just seems that he wouldnt have that much in terms of motivation for the season, or am I just making a mountain out of a molehill???

Anyway, random youtube link for last Saturdays game vs Melbourne, which Melbourne won 6-2 against us. The third goal is pretty good IMO, but our defending for all the goals is pretty hilarious...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ICYk_M7V_iI

Its only the first half, the goal in question starts at 6:25... the **** defending went for all 90 minutes...

Obviously this in an exaggeration, but past that keepers need protection for the same reason kickers need protection in American football. They are constantly in some sort of prone position and unable to defend themselves. Obviously this type of behavior shouldn't be covered by that, but GKs are taught to bring your leg up to protect yourself and refs know that. Therefore you'll get a lot of leeway.

That **** would be real hard to spot in real time as well. GK is a dirty bastard... I can relate.

You might want to ask Cristiano Ronaldo about what it's like to play at a club you know you're going to leave.

I must admit I watched the game on Saturday in semi-astonishment.

Astonishment because I hate games where you can't figure out if one team is super-good or the other super-bad. Sadly, I'd have to say it was the latter, just played right into Archie and co's strengths.

I feel a little guilty about not following the A-League too much this season, having gone a little overboard with the watching 6+matches from Europe every week. How's it been? Who's your pick for the title?

I wouldnt get that concerned about ZOMG I dont watch this league... I pay almost no attention to state level Australian Rules Football compared to the AFL... watch what you want to watch...

The league, I think the top 3 teams are so far ahead of the others then the rest, those being Sydney, Melbourne and Gold Coast... However, with the nature of having one off matches to decide the domestic league, there is no guarantee a team like either Perth or Wellington will get a sick hot run going and just run home ftw...

Perth has issues in trying to keep our 3 "potential" World Cup players home, and Adriano Pellegrino possibly going to Motherwell or even Celtic to trial LOL... I think that only Sterjovski of the 3 has any real chance, Chris Coyne has been replaced in the pecking order by Kisnorbo, Moore, even Spiranovic... and Burns while good for us didnt play vs Kuwait and as such I dont think can make the squad...

Overall Im pretty sure the top 6 will finish

Melbourne
Gold Coast
Sydney
Newcastle
Perth
Wellington
---------------
CCM
Brisbane
NQF
Adelaide

Premiers, Id say Gold Coast but Perth one time!1!!

Nah he was top scorer in Italy and started very strong into this season, he's also Italy's footballer of the year.
