Everyone told me Park, Granero, Hoilett, Bosingwa, et al were good as well. Ryan Nelsen ended up being the best player of the new boys.

Park and Bosingwa were two of the biggest whipping boys in the EPL thread last year if you bothered to ready any posts not about QPR.

Really smart move by Remy. Gets huge wages and a release clause if they get relegated, so he can get a signing bonus+good wages in the Summer if it doesn't work out.

aoFrantic,

As I've pointed out before---what is "whipping boy" at Chelsea or Man U is still a coup for QPR. Would anyone outside of Taarabt or Mbia ever even sniff the bench at those squads?

Also--I believe both were in Bjorn's top 300 list, while hardly the official authority on the subject, it's a list that generally lacks QPR players.

Best example of this is Johnny Evans--United fans have hated on him forever and I believe most have tempered their hatred and somewhat appreciate him, but the whole time he would have been a great signing for any bottom half side.

That's not how building a (successful) "team" really works though.

Ryan Nielsen is a warrior and leader battling/defending in and around the penalty area. I mean I still have occasional nightmares about New Zealand holding on for the 1-1 against Italy in 2010... But it's not a great sign of how the matches are developing when he becomes your best player.

Looking back I kind of think Hughes totally panicked after the Swansea opening day trashing in a game where 0-5 will almost never happen. Where Hoilett, Taarabt and Mackie to some extent dominated their direct opponents. At the very least showed good signs creating. QPR had 21 shots to Swansea's 13. 6 was on target but Robert Green had one of those days that happens to only him. Following that defeat Hughes seemed in constant scramble mode.
I didn't see enough of the following games to say if Hoilett following that was really bad, he could very well have been, it was also a tough schedule, but almost no matter what I think it's stupid benching him so relative quickly (coming off an impressive break-through year) for more or less similar but also more or less washed up Wright-Phillips and of course the long-term placement of Mackie on the bench in most of the following games look even worse. Someone like Taarabt I guess will always to some extent be in and out of the team.

Granero can be a classy player. He showed that at Real Madrid whenever he could (and before that at Getafe for a pretty good team) but this is a tough situation for him and if his game a large amount of the time is reduced to playing duel-ball in midfield battling for all the Nielsen/Hill clearances or second ball garbage from Zamora or Cisse then he has limited value. Park remains more versatile, and I will maintain that he plays very intelligent in midfield, but generally the same is the case for him.
A nutcase like Diakete will shine more in that kind of match-picture, but again that's arguably a bad sign for the team and he is not someone I think can be relied on when you're facing relegation.

Though by no means a guarantee to work out just fine, I would like to see Mbia get a chance in central defense instead of midfield bringing some different talents to the table there. Hill can't even be relied on what he is supposed to be solid at so it can't get much worse but unfortunately he has been made a captain.

I guess you can go on and on about QPR. I'm definitely not saying all went wrong because of a specific bad start. That kind of game may very well have happened sooner rather than later. The main issue is still chaotic purchases with no plan or very bad plan.

Just heard a funny rumour. Manchester Utd plan to activate Angel Di Maria's release clause of 150m.

I don't think I'd want him at that price. Maybe 125m.

Good way to get on their good side

Is he eligible for CL? Did he play for Chelsea at all?

Also Jack Butland left out of the Birmingham squad tonight. Lots of rumours about him going to Newcastle with Krul heading out the door.

Becchio also out of the Leeds squad because of "illness"

Listening to WBA - QPR. Green just made a terrific save as far as i can tell. We are losing the ball every 30 seconds. Onouha is appearently solid defensively.

Malaga is quite an ambitious first loan for Piazon, going to be tough to establish himself there.

Reading/Wigan/top end of Championship would be more the idea surely.

Yeah he's eligible for CL.

I Prem app this season (Villa 8-0, an assist and a missed penalty) and two starts in Capital One Cup ( 1 assist)
