I was surprised to hear that Song, Modric and Alba represented 48% of the transfer fees spent by la liga clubs during the last transfer window, but I probably shouldn't have been.

Henriquez becomes a Red

Manchester United is pleased to announce the signing of 18-year-old Angelo Henriquez.

The Chile under-23 striker joins United from Universidad de Chile for an undisclosed fee.

Sir Alex Ferguson is delighted with the news and told ManUtd.com: “Angelo has made a tremendous impact on the game in his short career so far. His pace is a great asset and he reads the game really well for someone of such a young age.

"We have a proud record of developing young talent and Angelo fits the profile of a United player – skilful, attacking and someone who plays the game with real flair.”

Henriquez himself is equally excited at the prospect of pulling on the red shirt: “I am thrilled to be joining the biggest club in the world. Manchester United is a great team and has a great manager.

"To be able to be part of that is a huge honour and I can’t wait to get started. I hope I can be part of many successful years with United.”

Henriquez's squad number for the 2012/13 campaign will be no.21.

Silly question time.... how can UTD sign a player (fee paid) this much past the deadline?

The deal was done a while ago but they had to wait for clearance I think.

"Everyone was expecting Robin Van Persie to leave, but Alex Song, that was a surprise. I don't understand that at all. It is a big loss for the club.

"When you see two of the best players from last season leave, you ask a lot of questions. I understand why the supporters are nervous."

Sagna, 29, signed from Auxerre four years ago, and in that time has seen several of his team-mates leave - including duo Gael Clichy and Samir Nasri, who went on to win the Premier League title with Manchester City last season.

He continued: "I am the only starting player left from 2007. In May, I watched City's parade on TV. I saw Samir and Gael lift the trophy. I want that [feeling]."

The France defender will be heading into the final year of his current deal at the end of the season, and maintains as yet there has been no talk over an extension.

He said: "For the moment, I want to play with Arsenal, and find my level again."

Sagna is on the last year of his deal this season? Wtf Arsenal.

Will be heading into the final year of his current deal at the end of the season = two years left.

With Sagna hitting 30 in February and with Arsenal's reluctance to give long-term contracts to 30+ers, it wouldn't surprise me if Sagna were looking very closely at his exit options as well.

Love sagna but his age and coming off two broken legs in a year means that we won't be giving him a contract ASAP.

He definitely was before his injury at least. Considering the overall lack of quality players in the league in that position, that's not saying much though. He's a pretty good player, but he's "the best RB in the league" by default, not because he's some special talent.

Have to disagree, tbh I'd struggle to think of too many better right backs in the world

Obv only my opinion, but aside from Bayern and Barca I think he'd get into every side in Europe, and if he does leave next summer clubs will be queuing up to sign him

He's really good, but mostly helped by the fact that there aren't a great number of quality FB's. He is obviously very overrated by your cashy's and some other arse bandits, but his age and now his serious injury record are going to be the major negatives when teams look at signing him next summer.
