Mad Men is super terrible, I say this as someone who loved Season 1 and enjoyed Season 2. The show meanders off cliff after cliff after cliff of bad plotting and lame characters and is more absorbed in trying to convince the viewer of its historical importance than it is in trying to be a good story. It's a terrible story, full of terrible characters with unbelievable arcs and plot points that neuter the dramatic momentum.

There's also Peggy, the literal only good thing about the show, and she's wasted at this point.

I don't think the show has been bad for that long. It was just so dumb for Don to have this gigantic meltdown then within a season everything is back to normal and literally every plot point they're using is recycled from a past season. We've seen it all before, or don't want to see it.

at this point i'm expecting the series finale to be a 1-man showcase of GLEN

Veep & Silicon Valley already picked up for another season after this
so the GoT / Veep / Silicon Valley / John Oliver Sunday nights will continue for at least one more year in 2016

So I watched all of GOT after season 4 came out last year. It was awesome entertainment and I was so glad I saved it all.

Maybe having binge watched them and getting used to some of the predictable storytelling was part of it for me, but I definitely expected a slow start, I'm not going to watch the leaked episodes because after waiting for so long, waiting for another month seems sucky.

Is the kid in that tree up north still up there? I have a prediction:

This is actually where the books descend into Mad Men-esque melodrama with all the parties in their respective cities more interested in building up infrastructure and sustainable agriculture than in raping and pillaging each other. Basically medieval Farmville with the occasional need for mediation from the principle characters become the overarching themes of an uneasy detente that eventually settles in to a peaceful order of the world.
