Bama's Hendrix is looking to go pro but not hiring an agent.

Ole Miss is all that's left.

Same ol story for us tonight

We just didn't have enough depth to hang the whole way & struggled with foul trouble/fatigue as evidenced at the free throw line. If Nick didn't get that 2nd foul I imagine we could of stretched out to a bigger lead in the 2nd half & controlled the second half a lot better.

Cheers to our 5 recruits, 4 of which provide height, length, and more toughness than we have. The other guy should be much better than Jai Lucas(ugh...) at PG.

Hopson just committed to UT. Incredibly huge pickup. UT will be number 1 in the SEC again next year with this.

lol, guaranteed? We'll see about that. The SEC is going to be down still next year but I think will have more teams capable of beating some of the better teams, so it's silly to start proclaiming UT has a guaranteed #1. I think there is about an equal chance of UF/UT/Bama being the best team depending on what happens with guys leaving earlier.

Hopson is very good, but it's not like UT even has the best class in the SEC. Gator fans are now finding out that are class is even underrated. Chaney & Shipman are both POY in their state and are rated lower than guys in their own state.

Hopson is going to be an immediate impact but it's not like every guy who is figured to be so always does make an immediate impact so it's silly to proclaim UT an automatic because of a player that isn't even in the program yet.

BTW, is Pat Summitt going to let the men's team hang a Sweet 16 banner in her arena?

Also, guess LSU decided not to go with Anthony Grant. LSU is expected to hire UMass' Travis Ford, which is obviously a great hire.

TFG,

The word guaranteed was not in my post. Not sure where you got that

Well, initially I was asking if you were guaranteeing, but I kept looking at how you said:
"UT will be number 1" as a guarantee.

Whatever, we'll see how it goes. If Speights comes back, I like Florida at probably 35% to be #1, just above UT & Bama(depending on who they lose).

I agree it will be close, and a ton can change before next season starts. Even Vandy could be decent again if they can pick up another recruit or two.

Word from my gf - who has a rivals subscription and follows Vandy bball much more closely than I do - is that our class next year is ok, but the year after there's some local HS junior who's coming that is supposed to be an absolute stud. So between the new recruits coming in and all the freshman that got a good chunk of PT this year, next year is a "who knows?" but the year after they should be really good again.

Not like you could beat either team in Thompson Boling anyway.

Grant told LSU and SC no. He wants the Florida State job for some reason.

fyi, vandy has the 79th and 88th ranked recruits in teh 08 class and has a committment from the 95th ranked player(Jenkins) in the 09 class, if Jenkins is who she is referring to, not sure if he is considered a stud. Pretty cool though your gf follows recruiting though.

Either team? What are you talking about?

I think we're like 6-7 at your guys place during the Donovan era which is pretty good because of the awesome atmosphere & great teams the past few years. Nothing to be ashamed about. We're 9-4 at home vs you guys.

TFG,

I think he is laughing at your men's teams' chances being as high as 35% next year. UF was kind of bad at times this year. They overperformed vs UT this year. UT has played very well vs UF, including going 2-0 vs the first championship team. I think that the East shakes out as follows next year: UT-UK-UF-VU-UGA-SC. I think that will be the preseason pick of most of the journalists. To give UF a 35% chance of winning the entire league is a bit much. The recruits UF has may be pretty decent, but none of them are complete game changers at this point. That could all change, but looking at each of them individually this is what it seems. However, as I have said, freshmen can be completely different than what was recruited. Hopson may suck ass, UF may have some incredible guys, Vandy may have recruited 2 superstars. You never know at this point. But, with what is returning and with the info we have of what is coming in, it seems UT will repeat and UF will be 3 or 4 overall in the SEC.

I know what he was laughing at, LDO, but like I said it provides nothing. I'm interested to know what he thinks rather than a LOL & then take another 19 posts to gather that information from him. I made a mistake when I posted most likely because I am obviously biased but that doesn't mean it deserves a LOL response

Like I said earlier, our class is underrated & it's still sick. That said, obviously some of them won't be ready to make an immediate impact. Kadji is an immediate impact kind of guy & he isn't even the highest ranked. He would of been a McD AA most years. We have 2 POYs in their state who are rated below others from their state so I'm fairly certain we will have some guys who can do some things right away.

I really don't think we overperformed vs UT, we played a great half in the 1st half at home like we have many times this year & ran out of gas like we have many times this year. It was actually a very standard game for us, just like @UT, now that I think about it.

Would you not expect a team full of people who have never started a college game in their lives to not be bad at times? Not 1 player ever started a college basketball game for this year much less had any meaningful minutes. No, not even Speights. He has really come along way & wouldn't have the NBA scouts projecting him so high if he hadn't been showing some ridiculous talent and skills. This guy is a legit top 10 pick if he comes back for another year. I'd say he's more of a project top 20 guy this year. Calathes is a SEC POY type of guy next year and is only going to get stronger, faster, and quicker. Parsons played his best basketball down the stretch & will be helped the most by lifting/conditioning. Hodge was playing his best basketball as well. Allen is a big time 3pt danger off the bench & Tyus is going to very good.

I have concerns about Mitchell. If he transfers(+Speights leaving, we get another big time recruit in Witherspoon). He can only get better or won't play.

Werner would be a sick dirty man off the bench if we can get someone in his position so he doesn't have to start.

Lucas is a big question mark but just needs some confidence.

I'm not guaranteeing anything but with likely the most returning of anyone in the conference and legit NBA talent in Calathes, Speights.

Also there is a decent chance I will be a Manager on the team which will mean we're guaranteed locks & I would hope some of you are pulling for my team.

Finally, I'd be happy to take 3:1 if Speights stays(since you generously LOLed at me) on the Gators winning the SEC regular season title next year. I've been known to be homerish about the Gators but so does every college football fan, so cut the LOL **** out.

Yeah, Jenkins. I guess he's not so much an all-around stud as he is supposed to be a dead-eye, lights-out shooter, which is big since Vandy just lost one of their best.

Also, why is everyone projecting UK 2nd in the East when losing their 2 team leaders/leading scorers & question marks about PP's health? They have some good recruits but so do most teams.

So Speights declared. UF most likely loses their 2nd best player. I think I would make the bet of UF not finishing first in the SEC next year now

lol, only I said they would finish 1st if he was back. If he stays, I'll take 2:1.
