What's the difference? A silver medal is an unmitigated failure anyways. Canada is in a negative freeroll when it comes to hockey - it's gold or suicide.
If we're not winning gold, might as well get it over with sooner rather than later. We had to play the Russians at some point, and it'd be a sweet slice of poetic justice if we could deliver them the same fate they handed us in Turin.
The only disadvantage is playing on back-to-back nights...but jumping out to a quick lead on the Germans would allow Babcock to roll 4 lines and cruise into the quarters.
