I said earlier that preparing a write-up before your turn was a futile task in this thing. It seems like the moment I even think of a name, he's instantly drafted. Quite tilting imo. Gotta stop checking this thread so often.

Spoiler:
Abdul Qadir

Was really close for my spinner (stats are ridiculously close) but Qadir had the better strike rate, needed for picking up wickets mid innings

Well, i've got quite a few spots to fill yet, and my knowledge of the top players remaining is still a bit fuzzy. Nonetheless, it's time to start getting the big picture together, eh?

lol i was out all of today, i had written two names down, Andrew Flintoff and Andrew Symonds. came back and there had been like 3 picks all day, both gone. get to my pick, can't decide between super mitch and lillee. go with lillee because he can open the bowling, thinking i can probably pick up mitch again in 4 picks time and boom gone.

Round 4 Pick 52

Tillakaratne Dilshan

Spoiler:

Excellent value here for this Sri Lankan all-rounder.

From cricinfo
Quote:
With his relentless aggression, strong wrists and natural timing, Tillakaratne Dilshan is one of the most exciting batsmen in the game today. He is technically sound, but, much like Virender Sehwag, he uses the defensive option only as a last resort, after all the attacking alternatives have been explored. He loves to make room and thrash the ball through the off side, but the stroke that bears his signature more than any other is the one he developed for the 2009 ICC World Twenty20 - the scoop shot over his head, which confounded bowlers and experts alike.

Dilshan's abundant talent was never in doubt from the moment he made his debut, but he went through several early troughs, most notably when he was dropped from 2001 to 2003. Having burst onto the international scene with an unbeaten 163 against Zimbabwe in his first series in November 1999, Dilshan's career remained largely unfulfilled until he cemented his place as one of the most destructive openers in the modern era. Add his electric fielding, especially at backward point, and his underrated offspin, and Dilshan is a quality package.
5095 runs in 174 innings, for an avg of 35.13 and an 87.40 strike rate. And it took him a while to get going too...he got his maiden 50 against ZIM in 1999, but batting mostly in the 6-8 range, did not get his second until 2005. But from that point on, he's worked his way up the order with the quality of his bat. 8 centuries and 21 halves in all, Dilshan has been a fixture for the Lankans for quite a while now. Smashed a career high 160 against India in 2009.

Also, LOL Dillscoop.

Oh yeah, he can bowl too. Not world-class stuff, but some handy off-break that gives Punter even more options.
54 wickets in 110 innings, with a 44.31 average and 4.76 economy, with a sick 4/29 against India in 2005 and a 3/17 against Bangladesh less than a month later.

Here's a little taste of what he can do to open an innings, finishing with a nice but disappointing 97:

Abdul Qadir

Spoiler:
Badminton CCC is delighted to announce former Pakistan cricketer Abdul Qadir as it's primary spin bowler. It wasn't an easy decision, given how marginal the differences are between the remaining spin bowlers. I opted for Qadir for his Leg breaks.

Offering more variety than an off break and being much harder to master. I chose him over undrafted for his exceptional economy of 4.06, and his superb strike rate of 38, crucial in breaking up partnerships during the middle overs of an innings.

Spoiler:
Kevin Pietersen

Spoiler:

Kevin Pietersen will be Bsdminton CCC's middle order power batsmen (unless i run out of openers ).

Born in SA he chose to play for England, and qualified through his mother. He really burst onto the International stage ironically against SA, where he was our stand out player by a stretch. He looked like he slept with mustard on his pillow, then styled it like Sonic. Thankfully his hair has calmed down these days.
A mainstay in the ODI team ever since, briefly being dropped amidst injuries. He looks to dominate bowlers not allowing them to settle. It's no secret that KP has a weakness to left arm spin, which is ironic because for a while he was one of the better players of spin in the world.

Onto some more positives he reached 1000 one-day runs in just 21 matches - equalling Viv Richards' record. He has also patented the "switch hit" which required a ruling on it's legality. Boasting a formidable drive and superb through mid wicket, whilst having a great hook he can seem impossible to bowl to on his day. One slight surprise, given he has seven 100's, his high score is only 116. With his new position opening the batting, expect that to change....one day.

He can also bowl off breaks......kinda.

Round 4 Pick 49
Yuvraj Singh

Yuvraj Singh is a devastating middle order batsmen and useful part-time bowler. Still only 29, he already has scored almost 8000 runs at a superb strike rate of 86. He has 12 ODI hundreds despite consistently batting between #4-6 in a stacked Indian batting lineup. He's a solid player of spin in the middle overs and is particularly dominating against pace at the death of the innings. Yuvraj is a good part time bowler with 99 wickets at a respectable average of 38.

Spoiler:
Round 5 Pick 56
Shane Bond

If not for injuries, Shane Bond could have become the greatest bowler from New Zealand. When healthy he was on the very short list of best current bowler in the world. In 82 ODIs he took 147 wickets at an incredible strike rate of 29 balls per wicket (average of 20.8 and economy rate 4.28). He is quick threatening wicket taker with a deadly bouncer and good accuracy. He's capable of destroying any side.

Round 4 Pick 53

Spoiler:
Mitchell Johnson

Spoiler:

Spoiler:
From cricinfo
Quote:
Mitchell Johnson remains a once in a generation bowler more than a decade after he was first spotted by Dennis Lillee as a 17-year-old. No other fast man has been able to copy his successful left-arm method that mixes bouts of waywardness with spot-on strike-power. Off the field he is so shy that it is hard to believe he has taken on the role as Australia's chief marksman, a weapon capable of hitting batsmen and 155kph. With a strong, flowing run to the crease, Johnson can become mechanical in delivery, especially if his wrist, a long-term concern, is in the wrong position. When it's bad, he sprays the ball on both sides of the wicket like an old-fashioned firebrand. When it's perfect, there is probably no better bowler in the game.

Spoiler:
Team ZDYE is pleased to add this flamethrowing aussie leftie to its ranks. 143 wickets in 90 innings, with an average of 25.38 and an economy of 4.9 only tell part of the story. His penchant for late inning batting is extremely useful. Mitch will get you runs, or he will get out of the way. 17.82 avg with a 94.53 strike rate over 51 matches makes his spot at 8 productive more often than not.

Spoiler:
He also gets the hater$ mad. Every Englishman gets very very mad when Mitch takes a wicket.

For our 5th pick, a pissed off team management of MAHAYODDHAS regroups and selects:

Spoiler:
Lasith Malinga.

As Tendulkar and Sehwag have shown, a clone when partnered up with his master can make for a deadly combination. Well here we are, Malinga and Younis will form a combo that would be almost impossible to hit out the park come the end of an innings.

120 wickets in 79 matches at an avg. of 25.99, he's just now come into his own as a One day bowler and his best days lie ahead of him.

Need 4 run of 31 balls eh? It aint over as long as Malinga got the ball

Round 5 Pick 6

Spoiler:
Shoaib Akhtar

Spoiler:
The fastest recorded bowler in history, at the beginning of his career he just wanted to run up and bowl as fast as he possibly could and accuracy was a secondary concern. But when he finally gelled the two together he became a scarily good fast bowler. 162 matches saw him take 246 wickets at an average of 24.79 and an amazing strike rate of 31.3.
