I suppose you're making a statement if you vote for one of the nutjob third party candidates, but it's not a particularly good one

I agree that as long as the polling looks this bad you can probably protest all you want. I was just talking about a specific time and place where protest votes helped swing the entire election.

Yeah Gary Johnson seemed a lot less stupid in 2012.

If I was going to protest this time I'd write in Arnold Schwarzenegger (seriously).

But as it is I'm voting HRC because I believe we need a landslide to send disgusting human beings like this back into the shadows. Trump has emboldened and empowered these people. Freaks me out that this is right in my neighborhood as opposed to Bum****, OK or something.

I'm not registered. I just get the logic/principle.

The logic behind it also buoys the legitimacy of the two party system imo.

Those are defined votes that the parties want, that much more as they grow/defect from them.

Literally Donald Drumpf is going to get at least 40% of registered voters to vote for him to be the next president

There's your protest vote. Not, oh the election is safe, I'll go ahead and vote Jill Stein now

Bernie's run can still have a positive effect, and possibly lay the groundwork for a more revolutionary change - w/o having to burn it all down and help Trump get elected in the process. This is their air tight logic:

So go ahead and eat that bowl of glass and nails America. You deserve it. Sorry about Trump losing his cool and nuking Mecca after that domestic terror attack. But we can't have corrupt autocrats like Hillary just assuming their right to the throne. Enough is enough. Don't blame me. I voted for Stein. She would never nuke Mecca.

True story: my hernia doctor recommended a homeopathic cure to reduce swelling. Yes this gave me great pause, but by all accounts he was very good at the surgery and been doing it for 20 years.

I went ahead and took it because it was like $10 and I knew it wouldn't do harm. Unfortunately I don't have a control hernia surgery to compare it to.

Of course. The Green Party is essentially the left wing tea party. They might not deny climate change, but she'll try and play both sides of the anti-vaxxers (Vaccines are good, but what is the corporate controlled FDA hiding from us!), thinks Wi-Fi is frying our kids brains despite any lack of scientific backing, and the Green Party only stopped including homeopathy in their platform a few months ago when people pointed out that they seem a little crazy. Plus her running mate hangs out with Holocaust deniers (but is shocked, shocked! that they believe those things) and thinks that the plane that got shot down in Ukraine was a false flag. The best people! The only third party guy who doesn't seem nuts is that McMullin guy, who pretty much seems to just have generic repugnant Republican views but openly admits to just trying to steal votes from Trump.

the great irony of a protest green vote

"3. Consider the irony of a protest vote for the Green Party—a party of the global Left, not a national one—when the future of the globe itself is what’s at risk. Should such a Green vote indirectly put the GOP in power, it is the end of the Paris Accords on Global Warming. It's not just that the United States would drop out—with the U.S. gone, other countries would, too. What would be the point of any other country complying? This would be devastating to the global—not to mention the planet."

It's all over all of his shows; it just wasn't as obvious at the time in TWW and Sports Night as it was in Studio 60 (where he literally created a character based on his ex-girlfriend so that his "successful TV writer white man" character could berate her constantly) and The Newsroom (the less said, the better).

Sports Night had an entire subplot about Dan basically harassing Teri Polo's character to go out with him until she gave in
