The first official Hillary endorsement from a R congressperson. Granted, he's in NY so it's not super risky but gotta start somewhere.

Is it really unbelievable that an old racist dimwit would say that to back up her old racist dimwit beliefs?

If anything the unbelievable part would be that she were capable of using the Internet

"Time and time again Trump has disrespected our nation's armed forces and veterans — and his disrespect for Mr. Khan and his family is just an example of that," Catherine Byrne, the mother of Raymond Harmon, who is currently deployed in the Persian Gulf, said to Pence. we've had a similar exchange before, but in the wake of the JD Vance interview (largely spoke of how looking down to poor white people is an acceptable form of 'racism') I saw these two articles shared on FB this week. both of the people who shared the posts would certainly describe themselves as liberal, tolerant progressives:

MANY IN NATION TIRED OF EXPLAINING THINGS TO IDIOTS

which began:

Quote:
Many Americans are tired of explaining things to idiots, particularly when the things in question are so painfully obvious, a new poll indicates.

According to the poll, conducted by the University of Minnesota’s Opinion Research Institute, while millions have been vexed for some time by their failure to explain incredibly basic information to dolts, that frustration has now reached a breaking point.
and Let Me Remind You ****ers Who I Am
which included

Quote:
If it seems like I have contempt for the American voter, it’s because I do. Frankly, most of you are ****ing stupid. Most of you have no goddamn idea what it takes to run a country. I mean god damn, almost half of you think God created the Earth 10,000 years ago!
What the actual ****????
both of these were written as satire/humor, in a not so clever way way to protect the authors. they're just joking, right! but not really, obviously. people 100% look down on religious/working class white people/appalachian people, and they don't realize how counterproductive this is. as it turns out, people get tired of being called idiots and they're going to respond to other people

Was on a long road trip and stumbled upon some right-wing radio, was pretty entertaining. Host was a former Cruz guy.

Some highlights:

host: "I do not like Trumps personality but I must support him. Hillary will permanently change our country....something something...and she will say Black Lives Matter."

"Hillary neglects our boys, lies to their families, and tells Congress what difference does it make". Repeated many times over.

a caller: "I don't get these NeverTrump people who say you cant have Trumps finger on the nuclear codes. Man we need to use the nuke on those Middle East people."

I'm not sure it's worth winning the election if I have to pretend those people aren't stupid. We are talking about people who actually think Trump is the right man for the job, right? That can't process "black lives matter" as anything but a racial slight against themselves? They still think Obama's a muslim? That healthcare is going to turn us all into socialist zombies?

You might be right that it's better to woo them to your side, but the fact is it's going to be a lot easier to trick them than to reason with them. Now, I'm not saying we should tell them the vote is on Wednesday...but probably saying "It's muslim Tuesday" would work. Or just flood the market with free meth on Monday.

But seriously, it is not my fault these people have devoted themselves to networks of alt-right conspiracy mongering insanity to the point they are so mad they can't even see straight. They are objectively morons and the only reason most of them are not in jail is their skin color. I don't want my politicians to pander to these idiot dead-enders--it's the definition of wasting time and effort.

"objectively morons" I'm sure is very wrong. most of these folks ends up with opinions like you mention bc of nurture issues (ie a very bad family situation or economic situation or lack of education or all of that, etc), not bc they were born conspiracy nuts. I'm assuming you want less of "these people" in the country, so you better figure out a way to address the core issues.

My Aunt has been liking all the articles trying to paint Khan as a terrorist. Yet my uncle served in the Air Force and my cousin is currently. I just don't get it. She's the nicest person too, always knitting blankets and outfits for other people. What is wrong with people?

invisibilia did a podcast where they hit on some psychology research that says people tend to get more nationalistic/racist as they get older/near death

googling can't find tons of backup evidence

Yeah, we dare not blame the propagandists riling these people up with racist lies, it's definitely all liberals fault.

Keep trying to logically explain to people that nobody cares about - especially the government- that they're idiots, eventually it will get through and they will vote for Hillary and save America

If they fall for the Trump rhetoric, isn't "idiot" a fair portrayal?

If someone follows rhetoric that addresses their fears and desires, are they idiots? Or do they have to be poor and white

Seems like we should be more understanding for poor peoples following not less

If the rhetoric is from a plainly sociopathic imbecile, I think that factors into the equation. Wishful thinking would be the most generous characterization.

there can be some common ground but i think they need to do most of the moving

for example, can they at least agree that obama isnt a secret kenyan muslim out to destroy america

that would be a fine start

They should get their **** together and organize viable political movement that doesn't make their demographic look like a joke to the rest of the country and world by nominating a sociopathic imbecile to represent them.
